Reviews for No Fair!
Anthony Tesla chapter 1 . 1/19/2010
Good job spoting all those damn double standards: I'm a Mexican, I'm a Jewish, but I don't want to be judged by my ethnicity or religion: I want to be judged by what I do

It's time to stop with that "white guilt" bullsh*t
Li chapter 1 . 1/29/2009
Liberals would freak out and there would be a media blitz on the poor soul who suggested it.

You are quite right. Discrimination takes its worst form when people refuse to recognize it as such.
suzieque2 chapter 1 . 2/15/2005
I wondered what would happen if someone suggested a white history month too. They would call it racist, would they not... But in all honesty I do think we need black history month to give us a reminder of how far they have come in freedom and I admire their courage for demanding it...Great essay by the way!
Arianna Cyan chapter 1 . 11/30/2004
Great point, perfect example. I've been filling out college apps, and the worst essay question in the world is "What kind of diversity will you bring to this college." I'm your typical WASP. I have no diversity. Oops. Screwed!

Affirmative action is an incredibly dysfunctional system, and hopefully we'll be able to get rid of it soon without victimizing either side. Discrimination is a very dodgy concept, and I think sometimes our desire to be progressive eclipses our need to be fair. You have good reasoning and chrystal clear language and that makes it very easy to agree with you. Good job.

By the way, thank you infinitely for your review and criticism. I think you're probably right. I'll revise a bit, see if I can make my argument stronger. Thanks again!
NOT DAVID DUKE chapter 1 . 11/14/2004
BRAVO!
Syri Kalin chapter 1 . 11/14/2004
*Thinks* I think that most of what you described is positive discrimination (not for you but for the minorities involved). They are more likely to get picked to avoid such problems as sexist or racist accusations.
But picking someone instead of someone else specifically because they were female and the other was male: no matter what the law says that sounds pretty much like discrimination to me.
I think that White History month wouldn't have that much point since most of mainstream history is white history. At least in countries like the US and the UK. I think. At least it is in the UK.
Sorry. Not sure where I was going with this.
Cthulhu chapter 1 . 11/14/2004
"Well, as Cthulhu is a woman (though I sometimes wonder) who will go against anything a man says, you should take her opinion as a molecule of salt."-Voronwe
Um, I take it you were being sarcastic right? If you would care to look at my bio then you would be able to tell that I am male.
Just because I happen to respect women and not be sexist doesn't mean that I am not a man you utter cock.

On Mercury chapter 1 . 11/12/2004
You learn about white history the whole time.
Anyway, apart from that, you had a bit of a point. I know there is all this stuff about people being discriminated against because of their colour and this is the same. I reckon that you should be able to get in with the correct grades. They've gone to far the other way.
OM (Caucasian female)
Miss Wendy chapter 1 . 11/12/2004
I am a woman. I am white. I come from a dead-ass poor background and went to one of the shittiest schools in Australia. If I can get into a prestigous course at a prestigious uni (and then drop out because I decided I hated it, even though I wasn't failing:-)), then there's no reason other people can't.
I agree with you entirely. Priviliges and benefits based on race, gender, class and sexuality only breed resentment 'groups', thus furthering and enhancing current problems.
John Stein chapter 1 . 11/11/2004
Unfortunately, this is right.

Their philosophy:

True diversity comes from people who have different skin colors.

We've all heard about minority's only scholarships, but when a white scholarship was proposed (by a hispanic guy, no less), it was called racist by every civil rights organization out there.

And Admiral, you'd better watch out. Cthulu will attempt to pound into you that black people and other minorities are constantly discriminated against, then will deny the same happens to whites.
Voronwe chapter 1 . 11/11/2004
Well, as Cthulhu is a woman (though I sometimes wonder) who will go against anything a man says, you should take her opinion as a molecule of salt.
That aside, excellent point. Though I think you could have gone on a bit longer, you said what had to be said. Bravo.

Under the Cloak chapter 1 . 11/11/2004
I hate feminist. You know it's really not all about equality with some of them. It's about dominance, in my opinion.
You raised some points that may never have been raised.
Good.
Admiral chapter 1 . 11/11/2004
"I wonder what would happen if someone suggested a white history month."

You know what would happen. That person would be the target of his very own Million Man/Woman/Gay-Lesbian March.

What you've said is not pedantic and stupid, but all too true.
Cthulhu chapter 1 . 11/11/2004
Don't be so fucking pedantic and stupid.
