Not bad. It would be better if you gave it more of a structure though, an introduction and conclusion. As it is, it's a pretty disjointed list of facts.

I'm not a smoker myself, but this is so one sided I feel like playing Devil's advocate.

'Everyone knows that smoking is horrible.'Actually, that's a matter of opinion, not something you can 'know'.

You should provide sources for your stats.

'Did you also know that 1 cigarette contains alcohol, poison, candle wax, toilet cleaner, and sewer gas and over 400 chemicals?'

There's some fuzzy wording ? I could believe that alcohol might be used in the process of making a cigarette (to sterilise things maybe) but not that a person who smokes a cigarette will wind up with alcohol in their bloodstream from it.

'poison' Er, what poison specifically are you referring to here? Of course cigarettes contain several poisons. Nicotine, like all drugs, is a poison, and I doubt many smokers don't know cigarrettes contain it.

'Candle wax' I take it you mean parafin, not beeswax? No biggie. You can eat parafin without any major health problems, and if there were any problems with breathing in the fumes of burning parafin candles would come with warning labels.

'Sewer gas' Which gas would that be exactly? Sulfur dioxide?

'Over 400 chemicals'. Pretty much everything contains chemicals, 'natural' or otherwise.

Second hand smoke really pisses me off. I have nothing against smokers as long as they're considerate (it's their life) but I hate it when someone breathes smoke in my face. It also makes me really angry when I see people smoking around children.

In the US perhaps it is (though again you need to provide sources to prove it). In the world, definately not- cigarettes have to compete with malnutrition, maleria, AIDS, war etc.

Very well written and researched. Did you write this for a speech class (as I wrote my essay Growing Up in An Alcoholic Family). I have a friend who detests smoking and smokers. I saw a tshirt and it reminded me of her. It said "Where would you like to spend your place in eternity, smoking or non?" She's a religious person.I tell my children that their fathers cigarettes are "cancer sticks" But my poor hubby does not see the humor in it. LOL
