This is truly beautiful. The image it evokes is one of beauty and tranquility and solace in a mystical kind of way. It leaves room to the reader to interpret who/ what the rose is, I assume it is God, but others might find different interpretations. It reminded me of Dante and Beatrice as well. ;-) A lovely poem. For the information of future reviewers reading this, I cannot refrain from responding to keltica's question: this is a tanka (5-7-5-7-7). Sorry for showing off my knowledge like this, but I just didn't want this poem to be seen for less than it is, for a not-quite-purist-haiku-type-of-thingy. *g*

Is this a purist's haiku? It doesn't seem to look like the other ones, I like it though, i don't feel like commenting further, I leave it as a sleepy rose, one humid may morning in the golden garden ... keltica
