Reviews for Aelyn's story
Acie chapter 27 . 10/15/2018
This is honestly such a good story, I'm glad you've completed it
Lumix chapter 27 . 9/10/2017
Hey there,
another story I finished really quick :D Thanks for writing it.

It has realistic and reasonable characters and there areno boring parts in the story, but somehow after reading it I miss the point in your story in which there are problems, a mistake or something like that (something like the highlight in the story). Nevertheless I really enjoyed reading your story.
But sometimes I asked myself if you planned your story before writing it. A lot of things matched really good and even revealing that Aelyns is a princess at the end of the story was pretty cool :D I can't complain at all, but I just asked this myself.

Thanks again,

Lumix

What an absolutely stunning tale. The pacing flowed nicely and I really enjoyed the characters. What a perfect story! I stayed up all night reading this just to find out what was going to happen! I'm so glad that marrying Gareth was the key to happiness (and peace).
Appleidover chapter 26 . 12/8/2014
This is honestly one of the best stories I have ever read period. I have reread this countless times, and it still makes me cry at the sad parts and gives me a warm feeling at the good parts. It is completely amazing in every way. :)
Julietish chapter 1 . 8/31/2014
Hi! It's Juliet from A Drop of Romeo. When your story was featured on ADoR, this review was written for it: Aelyn is a legendary K'ymaeli warrior and leader of men, known as the woman who fights with her left hand. A priest foretold, at her birth, that she would save her country and its people by ending the war that ravaged her country. Although she doesn't know exactly how this will happen, Aelyn's mental and physical strength is most certainly capable of succeeding at that task.
Things change, however, when she is captured by Dramarian - enemy - soldiers. What ensues is a tangle of emotions and politics that Aelyn must learn to understand and control, both for her happiness and the safety of their countries. Her status as "enemy" soldier makes her a prisoner. As a warrior-woman in a country which views females as weak and undeserving, she is even more the outsider.

But her experience as a prisoner of war opens her eyes to the kind of people she has been fighting all her life. Myren, the King's sister, looks after her and learns to trusts her. Kristram saves her from a potentially deadly situation. The Dramarian King, Gareth, cares for her when she is injured and tired. As much as she hates them with a power formed by a bloody history and deadly war, she learns to love the Dramarians. Similarly, her presence teaches the Dramarian men that women can be brave, intelligent and well-trained. It is an exchange of ideas that could potentially lead to peace, but Aelyn has to make a choice - her heart or her country.

I loved the way this story was not just a romance, or a fantasy, but also a story of women, people and peace. It is well written and well paced, with a very engaging and singular main character/narrator. She's strong, she's capable, and she can save her people. If that's not an independent woman, well, I don't know what is.
DragonOwl chapter 27 . 4/8/2014
I really enjoyed reading this - I loved th realistic emotions of the characters and the two cultures you built as well. This story is magnificent and is definitely better than some published books I've read! You are an amazing writer!
Val chapter 27 . 9/1/2013
I know this story has been up here forever, and I'm not even sure if your account is still active or anything, but I just thought I'd put in my two cents :)

I was really impressed by this story! Usually I can't stand romances, but this was incredibly captivating. My only criticism is that Gareth seemed incredibly not-busy for a king. I know that Aelyn was a prisoner and constantly around him, but it seemed like Gareth always had time to check in on her. I feel like, as a king, it should be mentioned that he was busy running the country for some of the time, instead of always being 100% available.

That's just me being nit-picky though, in case you're looking to publish it. It's still an awesome story and very well written!
twiinklex chapter 27 . 8/15/2013
Excellently written. It is obvious that you don't just know what you are writing about, you know it well too. Not my usual genre but I couldn't resist the hint of a forbidden love in the summary. Before I knew it, I was instantly hooked.

Just wish there had been more details and development. The pacing of the story seems slightly fast. i was surprised that their romance blossomed so quickly and all the more so when he first told her that he loved her. I wish there had been more scenes between them. The last chapter felt rushed too and it's like we didn't get closure for the other characters. It would have been good if the other characters were even mentioned a little, e.g. she glanced at each of them while walking down the aisle, and reflected on how much they meant to her or how they'd helped her, stuff like that.

A very enjoyable read nevertheless, I hope to see more of your stories in future :)
