You're right, poetry doesn't have to rhyme. Poem: n 1. a composition in verse, often elevated and imaginativley expressed. 2. an object, scene or creation of inspiring beauty. See, nothing about the need for poems to rhyme. Just keep on writing what you like and don't feel the need to restrict your talents because of what other people think.
