Hm. Hm. I don't really get it. I read it the other day, and went away and thought about it, and I still don't really get it. So he's saying her name... "slippery-warm", but biting, in each drawling syllable... and then they're being dragged along by some instinctual thing that means they did-what, I'm not quite sure. lol I feel kind of dumb. I'm sure I should get it. Oh well, I'm going to give up on understanding it, and just comment on the style ;) It's very poignant, in a kind of clipped way; like the girl is saying it sort of sarcastically, to cover up how much it means to her. I LOVE the last two lines. Definitely, to me, the culmination and peaking-point of the entire poem. Nice job, Beti! As always!
