Reviews for Legend of Emeralds
anti.hebe chapter 4 . 4/1/2006
Eheh... I was really thrilled when I started reading this - it seemed like a really light, naughty, decadent (all that good stuff) period piece. There were a few verbal anachronisms - I mean, rather, modern and victorian speech kind of meshed together - and as the thing progressed I found that spreading over into the social institutions you were portraying as well. And it seems to me that there's been a gradual shifting of focus, from plot-based frivolity (which, you must know, you do WONDERFULLY) to what is slightly self-indulgent.

But lovely, nonetheless. -~ I have to stop here for know, but it's going in my bookmarks... I really think that the cynical yet foppish style you started with worked SO well. Honestly, delightful.

Seriously. I went through and read your entire story at 5:00am on a Sunday morning, went to dance class, came back, and ohmigee. I am speechless. I love this story. It's just that different than the other ones, and I liked the tone of the whole thing. Weird...? I don't know, but I like it.

Reading some of Oscar Wilde's works, have left me with a sort of heartbreak for some reason. Thus I fell in love with his writing, and subsequentially, with yours. The 10th chapter is one the ones I liked the most. Katie is fun. ["...then burned it all in a sulky fit, told all my school friends that I was madly in love - that got me a lot of popularity, actually, my friends were a sentimental lot..."] And it was somewhat of a turning point. So. *twirls* Yay.

I'll shut the fuck up now, because if I were you, that's exactly what I would be saying to me.

so much Less than three.

I am so in love with this story!
dream dancing dragon chapter 12 . 3/25/2006
What a wonderful story! I'm so glad I read it despite its length (I admit that I tend to be a bit lazy). Of all the characters on this website that I've read about so far, Philip and David are probably the ones with the most detailed and interesting writing! I can't wait to read more!
multiples of six chapter 12 . 3/24/2006
Ah, finally some adorableness! That was great D D now what will happen next? I guess I have to wait & see.. *sigh* )
ShadowGal chapter 12 . 3/24/2006
Okay. So, the reason I didn't review -this- chapter is because not only did I not get an announcement that it updated, but also because even my slightly-obsessive, everyday checking of the story showed an update. I cleared my cookies and temp files and such this morning before classes, and then today, I come here and see, not one, but two new (to me) chapters. I hate my computer at times like this, y'know? And I'm sorry I made you sort-of worry. I didn't mean to. *huggles*

Moving on to actual reviewage now...

SUCH. A SWEET. CHAPTER. *melts* I'm glad it wasn't total angstage, because I needed a break from all that.

I'd make this review more detailed, but I'm already late for a fundraising supper, and I have to go. If/when I think of more to say, I'll sign out and review some more.

(Can't wait for the next update!)
ShadowGal chapter 11 . 3/24/2006
In response to -your- response: I figured that Philip was just following his emotions, but -I'm- still happy that he's being smart. Even if the smartness is only incidental. *shrugs*

Now to move on to my actual review of this chapter...

First off, I think that some words have been inadvertantly overlooked, or deleted. "but languorous melancholy is best enjoyed in in?" He offered." You have words missing between 'in' and 'in.' It's easy enough to guess what they are, but I thought I'd mention it so you can fix it when you have time.

Secondly... Ye gods, you evil, evil woman! It -was- an uber-angsty chapter, wasn't it? Argh. It's okay, though, because I also enjoyed it a great deal. Especially that last scene... Although I am a little worried, because whether or not he meant to avoid replying, Philip never actually said to David that if they were to get together, it wouldn't be a one-time-only sort of relationship.

And finally, I have a response to the kid who slit the doctor's throat. And then his own, right? I think that's how it was supposed to be read... Anyways, the reply is basically just "ouch". Ever since I read about how tough it is to cut someone's throat (their head should be tilted down, not up, incidentally), throat-cutting references make me wince even more than they ever used to. This isn't actual feedback to the scene, mind you... Just random rantage from yours truly.

And now, it appears that I have one more chapter to read, which both pleases and annoys me. Pleases, because I obviously adore your story... And annoys because I didn't know about the update. Grr.
Marlyse chapter 12 . 3/24/2006
How cute ! Be gentle with them okay ? They deserve it.

So I'm sorry if I made you wory. I swor I always wait for your new chapter with the greatest "impatience". The thing is I use my reviews to indicate new chapter so I try not to put them the day you put a new chapter or they are already green and I can't see if there is something new or not. Well it's just a little trick.

Back to the story I really liked the "illicit correspondence". Katie and Philip are so funny together. They are so childish and yet so concerned about David. I would have loved siblings like that (want to switch Katie with my little siste ? she is simply awfull you would propably hate her like I do)

So bye bye and good luck with your work (school AND cartoons ).
multiples of six chapter 11 . 3/19/2006
OMGOMG. It makes sense now. But Philip is in love with David.. he wouldn't hurt him! Ah God, you HAVE to write more. Like, NOW...

Okay that sounded mean.. I'll put a smiley face to seem nicer. ) Just write more!
Pivoine chapter 11 . 3/19/2006
Woah. I absolutely love this chapter. I'm speechless. Beautiful and heart-wrenching chapter...and when David declares his love to Philip, I feel strange, at the same time sad and happy. This feeling is quite , my dear, it's wonderful and I hope you'll continue writing this story because it's one of my favorite on Fictionpress.
mandrake-o chapter 11 . 3/18/2006
I love this story. It's amazing. Yeah, so amazing that it required extra As... So it was actually a typo that I couldn't be bothered correcting and now have wasted my time explaining when you wouldn't have looked at it twice.

I find it dreadfully amusing that they would risk the scandal of an elopement to get David to speak to them. They rock. Then again, David's always been the one whining about society. I can't believe none of them have killed themselves yet... well, most of them anyway.

I have to say that if you studied the unit that I did, you'd probably do way better in it than I did.

) Mandraco.
Marlyse chapter 11 . 3/18/2006
One of my favourite chapter I think. What a strange way to confess love o.O Anyway if that can make them more close I won't protest _ And I'm happy that my little profiling mad you think about doing something with Philip's past. After all being what he is, his life cannot have been white every day. I don't think that gay people were more accepted then than they were till… not very long ago.
multiples of six chapter 10 . 3/11/2006
This story keeps getting better & better! I'm not sure how I feel about David winning the race.. it seemed pretty sad. Anyway I really, *really* hope you write more soon!
Pivoine chapter 10 . 3/11/2006
awesome chapter! i'm impressed! i really really love it! and i think it's so beautiful that philip lets david win the race (it makes my heart pound really fast)! indeed, philip is my favorite character, since he seems so understanding, caring and mature! well, now I can't wait for the next chapter! great work! I love you!
Marlyse chapter 10 . 3/11/2006
See see ! I told you they wouldn't stay cold one to another very long. It's very kind of Philip to let David win the race. I still wonder why David spok of the emerald. Perhaps Philip is right and he needs to talk to someone about what happened.

Still, I wonder if we will know more about Philip. He is so secret… I mean, we don't know really who he is exept for the frivolious boy that show imself in society. Is he just the funny one he make us think or is there more to know about him ? Because he always come to help David but nobody can always help without being helped himself by someone else. And I don't think that Philip is that strong that. And just the fact that he had is "share of lovers" prove it. If he can't stay with one person for long then he can't be trully happy can he ?

Wow doing psyhological portraits of people who doesn't exist again. I should stop doing that. So bye bye till next chapter. Good luck and all.
