I liked this poem so much!

It's hard. Trying to find your own path, I mean.
It's so hard to decide on what to do and where to go that, sometimes, I wonder how is it that so many people live beyond the age of 40.

Should I do what is best? Or what I want for myself? Should I follow my dreams and goals? Or the "safe route" everyone else tells me about?
It's so lonely. Being true to yourself, that is.

I can really relate to this as I've had people say this to me before. Your writing is quite reassuring. I love this poem! :)

I believe you have effectively shown the typical relationship that most parents have with there children. While the parent wishes to guide their child down the path that would be most helpful the child feels as if the parent doesn't see that the child doesn't want nor feels the need to change the person that they are becoming. Eventually the relationship has to change from one always trying to protect and guide the other to both reaching a mutual understanding of how things are. Very well written.
