Reviews for Gardens |

Counter Spiral chapter 1 . 4/15/2006 Truly a wonderful piece on gardening. The figurative language is, in turn, blunt and then subtle. I especially like how you made it a journey of self-discovery. It took me much longer to read this than most essays of the same length, because I had to re-scan some sentences in order to completely understand the meaning. This might be because the paragraphs include many different subjects in each, but it made me really consider the point of each sentence, so to that effect, it was a good thing.-Counter Spiralp.s. Thank you very much for your review- I hadn't realized my mistakes and you were very sweet in pointing them out. They should be fixed, thanks to you. :) |
ChasingPerfection chapter 1 . 3/8/2006 Wow hon...I admit I was tempted to skip over this one as I am not a fan of essays in the least...but I'm really glad I didn't! As a gardener myself I can really understand the images and the work that goes into a garden...plus I LOVE some of your metaphors, esp. in the dirt and flowers sections! And is that italicized line in the dirt section yours? Because I LOVE it...you know I said I would try to say something I would fix in every review b/c I hate it when people don't do that but I have to say nothing stands out to me, I really really really really really like this one... |
Sam F chapter 1 . 2/23/2006 So,returning the favor for reviewing my story ... [I'll review several, I know it was a long one. And, I really liked your review. Heh.]This was interesting. Relatively poetic, it seemed at times that you were using phrases just to use them. Sentences like 'they outnumered me greatly and thier existence ddepended upon me tiring of the struggle' seem to express your plight in overly-dramatic terms. As well as the bliss felt when working in the garden ... I get some of it, but not being a gardener myself, I feel as though the essay would benefit from a shift of focus onto that, and the joy , very good. |

Aquafied chapter 1 . 2/9/2006 hm, i am not too sure about this. it is beautiful, that is true, but it seems to only embrace certain points of religion, but that is just me. it reminds me of a poem i heard about cricket a while by step that is interesting metaphor. |
