Wow, I can see this story is going to be great, I've always wondered about that too, but not enough to write about it. I think you should try to have them find one more thing that leads them to another clue instead of the people. Like the person who left the clues went in a trail...or...maybe the clues aren't really left by the people who were captured, maybe it's a trap. So many possibilities, but remember, have fun with it, it's a great idea. I thought mine was original, but yours really caught my eye!
