Fantastic read and I do hope you continue with this series.
I admit, it is a tiny bit confusing at times with all the different names and dynasties. Once getting used to the format it isn't boring at all.

I am suddenly remembering the days of School History lessons lol You have clearly studied Ancient/Modern civilisations and goverment evolution to create an entire history that could almost be real.
Very original in my opinion - onto chapter 2

I like the format, it's similar to Andrew Lang's tellings of Ancient Greece which I dug up and read a few months ago, therefore I'm used to it.
The prologue sets the tone of the textbook-like history quite well, and your grammer is fantastic.
It's hooked me, so I'll just shut up and continue reading.
