![]() ![]() ![]() Oh whoa, never thought I'll see a fiction base on Taiwan's celebrity, I didn't know they were known at all outside Asia. I live in Taiwan and yet I think you know more about my country's celebrity than I do. lol Great story, I love your writing and the way you portray Renee and Van. Hope to read my stories from you. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I've seen this story around for awhile now but I never got around to reading it. But I got bored one day in class & started reading. Wow. I deffinately should have read this sooner. Not only do I love F4, but I lovelovelove Vanness & Ken |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great story! i love it that the main character has those beliefs like saving herself for marriage and stuff :) i'm glad there are people that can write good stories that portray things like that :D keep writing! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just wanted to leave a short note that this is one of my favorite romance stories on fictionpress because of the fact that it really is a romance, but it's light-hearted enough that it's not overly sappy. It doesn't hurt that your righting is really good, your plotline superb, and everything clicked wonderfully. The way you wrote Renee and Van's relationship was the best-they have all the sappiness and the love, but there were real problems in their relationship they had to get over, like Amy, the Chinese boy/American girl issue/mom's disapproval, and the ocean separation issue. The fact that you included these issues and made them fight for their relationship (instead of letting it drop into their laps) really made the story great. It had a plot, it had a conflict, and it made POGA a story. Also, the way you wrote your characters made me fall in love with them. I like how Renee isn't a super feminist but also isn't very timid. She's a normal person and can be selfish. The way Van isn't perfect and has his issues to get over also made me love his story (and him). Actually, I might as well profess my love for all the characters, from Dee to Lily to Chris and to the entire band. The characters were humans and had their own problems to deal with instead of revolving around the same problem. The way Dee and Chris do not dedicate their life to Renee (as the main character) is refreshing and different from countless other stories, and it made me like them even more. I also want to mention the issue between Van's mom and Renee. Even though it was only a small portion of the story, in the last few chapters, it just fit. As an Asian, the issue totally made sense for me, since most Asian mothers I know what their sons/daughters to marry "nice Asian girls/boys". The issues seem minute but it really is a big deal in Asian marriages, and the way you included that shows how much you understand it and want to make the story realistic. It made me admire the story even more. I can't possibly list every possible thing I loved of this story. I'll just settle with saying I really did, truly, enjoy reading this story. Happy endings are my favorites and this ending, sweet and perfect, was the best. I went into the story hoping for an interesting read, but fearing for another not up to far fic. I came out of the story with a new favorite on the list and a smile on the face. It's one of those stories where the complete picture satisfies you so completely that any small issues or problems don't even register on the radar. Thank you for writing this story. POGA (both the story and the site) is the best. -Scribbling Death P.S. Ah, that was a not-so-short note, huh? Whoops. I probably could have condense it to, "I love story" but thinking of compliments was just so fun! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I meant to review earlier, but FP had some random error so I couldn't. I really, really enjoyed reading this story. It was well-written, interesting, realistic, and awesome. I admit I took a break before reading Ch. 23 because I hate the "low points" in a relationship and I wanted to make sure I could handle it. Maybe because of that, or because you wrote it really well and the characters were so good and believable, I actually wasn't cringing during the whole separation period. I wanted Van and Renee to be together, but I liked Amy and I trusted they would see what was right eventually. I was very happy with the ending! It was adorable and happy but I wasn't sitting there going, "Cliché happy ending, yay." It just felt like the right way to end. I loved your characters! Renee is so fascinating because she's strong and independent but vulnerable and very multidimensional. I really liked reading about her. I also adored Van, because he was both adorable and-strong, not a wimp that I felt couldn't take care of Renee. I'm not describing things very well because I'm sick, but basically, I loved them, and the chemistry they had was great. They worked together well and-oh! I really liked that even after the separation period when they got together, it wasn't that they never fought again-it felt more realistic that they did argue, but had learned how to settle their differences. I also really liked Amy, and how he served as a dramatic foil to Van was pretty cool. I liked Dee and Chris and the rest of F4 and most of the characters, with some obvious exceptions (Peter... hmm, anyone else? don't remember off the top of my head). I thought your characterization was really solid. I felt like you really knew your characters, and your characters could very well be real people-not fake or flat or unrealistic. I am a Christian myself and I did like that the protagonists were as well, because I feel like sometimes authors think their main characters need to be atheist/agnostic in order to be intelligent or acceptable and, well, that's not true. Sometimes I felt like it was just kind of thrown in there, but I understand that the general audience might find it to be less accessible if Christianity were more thoroughly woven in. I really did enjoy reading this-it was such an excellent read overall. Great characters, interesting plot (though at first, from the summary, I didn't even think I'd like it because I've never been too celebrity-centered myself and I wasn't sure if I could find it at all interesting), diverse elements-just good stuff all around. As I mentioned, I'm sick, so I apologize if this is really incoherent. In any case, thank you for the wonderful read! Have a great day. :) |
