I really liked it! Your characterizations are particularly wonderful, not just relating to their varying degrees of in-human existence. But the parts showing Ben's continual obsession with his exes particularly stuck out as wonderful, and made the characters very interesting to read about.

I absolutely love this story! Supernatural romances usually tend to lean one way or another, which yours did towards romance, but it worked for you. Your characters were well-developed and self-explanatory, you didn't waste any time or space trying to explain them. Their actions proved their personalities. The plot was simple and sweet, and the world you created was both unique and believable. I think you should write a sequel, actually, with maybe one of Ben's exes showing up. Maybe David, having gotten himself in trouble, and expects Ben to help him. That would be interesting. Thanks so much for writing this, it's truly a masterpiece!

Great story! I could totally see this being one piece in a collection of semi-related stories set in the same universe- town, rather. Sorta like Spider Robinson's Callahan novels and short story collections; taking place in the same place with peripheral characters repeatedly mentioned. Like there being another story about George and Tim's goddaughter who is a mermaid, and another about Russell's son who had been cursed to only speak in some incomprehensible language that no one but the newcomer Flicky the Were-Squirrel can understand. Kinda like Sunnydale in the Buffy series, this town could attract a whole lotta inhuman and hybrid mythological creatures.

I also like the way you merely referenced past events rather than starting the story earlier in the timeline or doing flashbacks. Specifically, how Zahn, Kyle and David were fleshed out only by hints of what they had done and told Ben. Great, great story! I love it!

I love how delightfully, vividly colorful all the characters are. The town is so charmingly crazy too. But what really makes it for me is your sense of humor. This is a greatly interesting little universe.
