| nightdragon0 chapter 20 . 1/7/2007
Well, now Karan's got another delima, between following his attorney and following his conscience. Like him, I guess none of us can write too well when we have too many things occupying our thoughts. I can certainly understand his frustration at that.
The "I don’t Devour clients" part was a good laugh too, heh.

I wonder how THIS is gonna turn out...
| Hiptobbi Square chapter 19 . 1/1/2007
Neat. A story that has characters interacting in consistent and often witty ways; a narrative structure that engages the reader as it should; and a self-made mythology that isn't completely contrived. That's a breath of fresh air right there, that is. Plus, how could I overlook an author who shares my damnation of Paolini? ;) Keep it up, and check out my stuff if you can find the time.

Well that explains more about the inner fire at least.
Seems that even with her Sercanethyst geyser discovery, there are still problems, which Quirl hasn't considered yet...
| nightdragon0 chapter 18 . 12/28/2006
No matter how civilized, their primal instincts are still stronger.
There's the feeling that Karan will be in a lot of trouble with Anvar after this, but there are also the interesting points about the 'inner fire'. Fueled by strong emotions apparently, but Quirl seems to be either shocked, or resisting until she faints.
Hmm...would the same happen to Karan after the letter at the end?
| Casey Drake chapter 18 . 12/27/2006
I KNEW it would catch up with him at some point...
I just wonder what's the matter with Quirl.
| Casey Drake chapter 17 . 12/23/2006
Ta DA! Karan to the rescue.
I just wonder what that important-looking letter is about...
| nightdragon0 chapter 17 . 12/23/2006
Heh I can imagine Karan's shock at getting burried under a pile of letters. Odd that Ferryl has to 'assist' on some court case, since I suppose it's not in her normal line of work.
Karan's currently one size bigger, but will that increase considering the amount of dragonflesh he ate earlier?
And I don't think Anvar will be too happy with Karan interrupting him.
| Shadowhound chapter 16 . 12/22/2006
Good chapter, but you repeated the word 'alive' too many times in the last sentence. I don't understand why Quirl can't just leave Karan alone when he's writing. He's finishing his book! And she's saying he has antisocial tendencies? He's writing the last page of his book!
Good luck with the magazine.

Holy... THAT's a twist!
| Hi'iaka chapter 6 . 12/17/2006
Wow, wow, WOW. I read up to this chapter in one sitting, and I would've kept reading if I didn't have to rush off in a few minutes. Anyway, this is fantastic! I've never read anything even remotely resembling this before- that's great! I love how original your dragon society is, and the idea of a dragon novelist writing fantasy fiction about humans is a wonderful witty idea. (I also love how Karan makes his humans basically act like dragons in his story- I never expected that, and it was hilarious.) Well, got to go now, but I'll definitely be back to finish reading. Great job.
| nightdragon0 chapter 16 . 12/17/2006
Karan writes til he collapses, heh.
So, is any discovered Sercanethyst a free-for-all? Don't know if Quirl's the type to grab some for herself, but considering her somewhat apparent 'jealousy' towards Karan's new size, perhaps...
| Shadowhound chapter 15 . 12/15/2006
Leftovers? There were some? In a way, that seems kind of impolite to the deceased. Granted, Anvar did kind get into a fight because of an insult, but why didn't he eat all of the Dragonflesh when he first started eating? I get that he became full and had to stop gorging himself, but it still seems like bad manners not to finish a grim meal such as that when he was the one that killed her. Maybe it's just me and my screwed up morals.
Refen was the child of a competitor? So, it comes to killing the children of rivals...Works for the story, thought I can't imagine Refen's father will be too happy about this. I'm curious as to how we will react to his daughter's bones being placed on Anvar's mantle.
Good chapter. I'm still wondering at future evetns, but you've assured the readers that the pace will pick up. Not to quickly, I hope. You've done a great job so far and I would hate for you to lower the quality just because some stupid reader wants the story to progress faster.
| Acelin chapter 1 . 12/12/2006
! You caught my attention. Too bad I'm in the middle of class...otherwise I'd finish it right here and now! I'll bne back to read, mark my words!
| nightdragon0 chapter 15 . 12/12/2006
Well it is necessary to build up the background of the story, even if it means taking it slow for a bit. I note the little reference to my character too, heh.
Is there a reason for piling up the sleeping dragons like that? Well, I guess they're sleeping so deeply too that they don't wake up when being moved about.
So if memebers of Great Broods like Anvar's get into fights too often and devour each other, gets pretty ugly doesn't it? Doesn't seem like they're restricted in any way, but guess it doesn't happen all the time.
So, would the Emberseers be some sort of a mix of a healer or shaman perhaps?
