Reviews for Saving Nicholas
FrenzyFan78 chapter 10 . 3/7/2007
*makes an excited face* Hooray, an update! I'm so very glad that you did. Sort of. I have a heap of homework that I should be doing that I'm not, so maybe it's not so good for my academic life. Oh well. So I'm not going to leave you a long review (sorry) cause I really need to finish up a Psych assignment. But I'm still reading and still enjoying your story!

Reason vs. Rhyme chapter 9 . 3/6/2007
Wow. This story rocks so far-I can't believe I never got into it before. Answer to trivia (copypasted directly, 'cause I'm feeling lazy):

"From late May to early July nights are bright in St Petersburg, but the real White Nights normally last from June 11 to July 2. The nature of the White Nights (Beliye Nochi) can be explained by the geographical location of St. Petersburg. It is the world's most northern city with a population over 1 million. St Petersburg is located at 59 degrees 57' North (roughly on the same latitude as Oslo, Norway, the southern tip of Greenland and Seward, Alaska). Due to such a high latitude the sun does not go under the horizon deep enough for the sky to get dark. The dusk meets the dawn and it is so bright that in summer they do not turn street lighting on. If the weather is cloudy you might not see any White Night, though on a clear day you can get a feel for a White Night even in mid-July."

This, along with JC Jaquez's Firebird, is seriously making me want to learn Russian. Speaking of which, thank you for the new additions to my [extremely vulgar] foreign vocabulary! I really like the characterization, especially Corinne's, who seems extremely realistic in a way that most quasi-heroines do not. Hope you update soon!
Annatari chapter 9 . 2/28/2007
I love this story; it's incredibly detailed. My favorite part is the way Cori and Nicholas interact, because they're both very strong characters. In my opinion, Cori is particularly complex. On the surface she's shallow and the classic Popular Girl, but underneath she's perceptive and caring. Her learning disability is a big thing too. Finally, I adore Tim. He's awesome. Anyway, I can't wait to read more of this!
Parilis chapter 9 . 2/11/2007
Ok, this was goodgoodgood. Tim is sweet:)

I do also know what White Nights are, we have them here, in Estonia.

As situated so far north, sun is under different angle.

Who were those guys, who attacked Cori and Nick...?

gabriellafaith chapter 9 . 2/8/2007
AH! YOU CANT STOP NOW! You are absolutely incredible! I did see some gramamtical/spelling errors over the past couple chapters, but not too much. I love the plot so far. Once again, you're amazing!
gabriellafaith chapter 1 . 2/6/2007
Oh my gosh, you're amazing. I'd finish all of this right now, but I have to do an english project... lol GREAT job though.
a reader chapter 9 . 2/3/2007
yay! another chapter!

Just so you know, near the top, you put in two 'she could's too near to each other. You also repeated that nick looked like everyone around him. 'Turning to face him, she was startled to see how much he looked like everybody else' and 'noting that his features also blended in with those of nearly everyone'. I also think that when they were being attacked, the 'frustrated tears' was too abrupt.

but whoo! that is one packed chapter! love it! what will happen to nick? will tim stay nice? is tim the son of Timur? yay! cant wait!
Isis of Egypt chapter 9 . 2/1/2007
That question I can answer with ease! After all, I live 300 km west of St. Petersburg and we have the white nights, too. The nights are shortest and whitest in summer, end of june/beginning of july. After June 23th/23th, the nights start getting longer and longer and darker, until around December 21st/22nd the sun sets as early as 3.30 pm. After that, the days start getting longer again.

Why do we have the white nights? Because we're situated quite far North. Not as far as to have polar day/night, but far enough that the Sun is under a different angle and thus causes the white nights.

Well, here's a detailed answer for you. The chapter itself was really good. Once again I'm amazed at how much research you've done for this story. Have you actually been to St Petersburg? Or did you find all this on the internet?

Either way, you've done a really good job of making the city come alive. And I really like Tim:)

All the best,

Lizzie
Unangelichalo chapter 9 . 2/1/2007
From late May to early July the nights are bright in St Petersburg, with the brightest period, the White Nights, normally lasting from June 11th to July 2nd. Saint Petersburg stands at such a high latitude that the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark.

:D Copied directly from And wow, the pictures are so pretty! I want to see it!

I loved this chapter, as always :) Poor Tim! He was only trying to help her!

And NICK! Nick is okay... right? I'm hoping so!

Update soon! *puppy dog eyes*

FrenzyFan78 chapter 9 . 1/31/2007
Today is just my lucky day! An update from you and from JC Jaquez! *smiles*

And I actually bothered to look up the White Nights because I was curious what they looked like. So, to answer your trivia question: May to July, because the city is far enough north that during the summer the sun never goes far beneath the horizon because of the earth's tilt. Yay google.

Anyway... new characters, new problems... you must update again soon, because I'm really enjoying your story. ]

Michelle Habibi chapter 9 . 1/31/2007
heyy! another update, yippe! and omg, nicholas did not just save her by sending her away! i would be crying too, like cori. all though cori does seem to be crying a lot in this story, but i guess after all that has happened, it is understandable. hmm, im curious about tim. lets hope he doesnt turn out to be a bad guy in the end because ive noticed how the strangers who help you out, have a way of betraying you in the end. lol, why are those officers so rude, though? very mysterious...and i wonder what happened to nick.
Isis of Egypt chapter 5 . 1/29/2007
Again, good, really.

I was slightly confused, though, because in the next to last paragraph, Cori says something about her mom probably having called David home from Harvard, but in the last chapter, David called Cori because he wanted to know where the TV remote was. So wasn't he home beforehand? Or did he go to Harvard last evening, when Cori hadn't been declared missing yet, and came back the next day?

Also, in this chapter, when they are disussing the reasons why Nick may be wanted by someone, they never actually get anywhere. He's telekinetic, yes, but they never consider any reasons as to why this should matter to anyone.

For instance, maybe because someone wants Nick to throw George W. Bush across the room at the G8 meeting in St Petersburg(:D). Or maybe because that someone wants Nick to move some important documents or guns or...(running out of ideas here). I just thought that maybe they should at least discuss it, especially considering the limitations Nick has. Or maybe they (Cory & Nick) think the person who is after them doesn't know about Nick's limitations and wants him to do something big, like moving houses on top of each other and thus killing the world leaders. Or anything, really...

Either way, wouldn't it be logical if they at least discussed the possibilities? I understand that maybe you've planned for them to do so, except later. Still, wouldn't it make sense if they talked about it, if the topic already came up anyway?

Am I making any sense at all?

I hope I am, because I actually had a point. But if I'm not, well, then... I suppose it didn't really matter all that much anyway.

I hope it doesn't look as if I'm trying to pick this whole story apart (because I'm not), but I'm just trying to be helpful. If I'm not of any help, then you can just ignore me:).

Oh, and I loved the Firebird reference in chapter 3.

~Lizzie
Isis of Egypt chapter 3 . 1/29/2007
Very, very good! I read the first version on RMWM, and it was really good, but this is even better (if you can improve on near perfection).

One small thing is that it seemed a bit unrealistic that Cori would tell someone she barely knew about such a personal thing as her dyslexia (or what ever it is). Maybe if you made her a bit more reluctant... or... Well, it's your decision, and it's not really bad the way it is, nor is it unbelievable, just maybe it could be made a bit more realistic.

And Katya is pronounced KATya, not KATSya. The T is sort of soft(er) that normally, but it doesn't really sound like there was an S in between T and Y. But that was probably a typo, anyway.

So, all in all, very-very good. This is publishing material, once you get to the end.

All the best,

Lizzie
Michelle Habibi chapter 8 . 1/26/2007
heyy! i actually read this a long time ago but i didnt have time to leave a review but my exams are over except for one so i have time now. lol, cori gets her feelings hurt very easily and both her and nick seem to be very anxious. and that woman...she could be either an ally or enemy. im not sure yet. ill wait for the rest of the story to find out. im not the best reviewer as you can see but im looking foward to reading more. hehehe, i finally can do whatever i want! so i wouldnt mind if you updated early *wink*. see ya!
