![]() ![]() ![]() Right up until that last sentence, I was saying to myself, "Oh, sweet Jamie I love him!" But that last sentence... You're not going to ruin him for me, are you? Not just so that I'll like Oliver more? I hope not! I love James! He's one of my favorite characters! I suppose I flatter myself too much thinking that you might change James' character just for my sake. I'm sure that whatever's coming up you've had planned all along. |
![]() ![]() Aw, that's so sad. I am glad that she didn't agree to marry James. Especially when you laid out all the reasons why - they were all really good reasons, and so true. They really wouldn't have been able to grow up if they stayed together. This was a wonderful chapter, I look forward to more! |
![]() ![]() Oh my goodness! I am gonna cry! That was probably the most emotional chapter I have ever witnessed! Wow. I think I was holding my breath the entire time it took me to read this chapter. Pure brilliance! Wow. I can't stop saying that! Geez. Amazing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() And, I've reached the end ... for now. I've read all 37 chapters in a period of three or four days, which, for me, is remarkable, because I'm not much of an online original fiction reader, so please, take that as a tremendous compliment. This is one of the best stories I can ever remember reading on this site - as I've said many times, your writing style is so unique, and so enthralling that it really makes the story. I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like the reasons she gives him about not loving him as a lover. I hope oliver c. omes back. how many are chapters are left |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, wow, that was a hard chapter. Not that it was bad or anything - it was really great, actually - but just that it was so freaking ... dramatic, though in a good way. I believe I already mentioned it, but you have a marvelous writing style, very flowy, and descriptive, though not so much that it becomes bogged down. I'm looking forward to the last few chapters left before I have to wait for updates :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aw! Poor Jamie! That's just so sad, poor thing. she has a point though, and I would have done the same thing, but still, I feel bad for both of them. What she NEEDS to do though is get off her butt and go to England and find Oliver herself instead of hurting herself and tortureing herself and go find her true love. unless he comes back...that could work too of course...nice two chapters! can't wait for the last 3! |
![]() ![]() Its amazing to look a how Elizabeth has grown over the course of the story. She's gone from a shy, timid New England girl to one who says what she really feels and knows what's best for herself. And, of course, I agree that Oliver has to come back and sweep her off her feet. :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() My heart goes to James! As much as I love Oliver, I can't help but feel so so sad for Jamie. I hope he does find someone else, and I do hope Oliver and Elizabeth find a way to be with each other. I'm anticipating the next chapter :D I can't wait ! |
![]() ![]() ![]() wow...very emotional and intense. (: great job! And I am so glad that Elizabeth did not accept the proposal. I feel SOO sorry for Jamie, though. I am just so torn. I want him to be happy, but a marraige between elizabeth and jamie is just not meant to be. Post more soon! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Poor Jamie! I can't believe he got the confidence to propose...only to be shot down! Ah! Poor Jamie! I am so upset for him. At the same time, Elizabeth is absolutely right, and she really is just looking out for his best interest. I do hope he finds someone that would love him more than air...Could the story of Jamie be a sequel? I just think it might make a cool story on it's own, his quest for happiness after being crushed by the girl he's loved his whole life, especially during the Revolutionary War? I don't know, I think you could write it wonderfully! I do hope Oliver comes back for Elizabeth, because she deserves to be happy to! Looking forward to the update! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This chapter was amazing. You are such a marvelous writer. When it comes to bringing out people's emotions, you do it extremely well. I felt as if I were right there with Elizabeth and James. Making James so nervous when he was proposing was absolutely perfect and having Elizabeth refuse the way she did was even more so. Does this mean Elizabeth will end up not marrying at all? I hope not. I hope Oliver manages to come back. Or will her parents make her marry James? They don't seem like they'd do that, but the two families have been waiting for this match all their lives, so I can't imagine how disappointed they must be. Thanks for the quick update! Do it again won't you? |
![]() ![]() ![]() I feel so sorry for James! But, I hope Bess finds a way back to Oliver now that James is out of the way. |
![]() ![]() ![]() WOW. That chapter was just wow. I don't know what to say. I think that was definitely one of the most beautiful chapters ever. I just loved reading this chapter, just like the other chapters, of course. I just kinda felt the emotions, you know. I mean James must have been really heartbroken. I can really see that his love for Elizabeth is genuine. I really feel sorry for him. But I guess that would have been better than having Elizabeth marry him just because she felt sorry for him or something, not because she loves him. And hey, i love the way you described their likeness like " His thoughts were my thoughts. His youth was my youth". I loved that. I doubt Elizabeth and Oliver will be able to get over each other. Well, at least that's what I hope. See, I reread the first few chapters of the story. And there was this chapter when Elizabeth was singing coz she thought nobody else was around in the inn. The song was "True Lover's Farewell". There was this line that says "...But wherever I go, I will return..." It was also mentioned in another chapter. I think that was when Oliver taught her how to dance. So I just thought that maybe it had some connection to ths story and Oliver is going to go back to Boston and marry her. That's just me. And I'm still getting my hopes up for a happy ending. I think that's it for now. I can't wait to read more so please, please, please update really, really, really soon. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hes like the nice guy you cant get rid of because you dont want to hurt him. And then, he mopes and thinks of his lost love and has to either buck up and find someone new, or forever think of what coud have been. Guys like that are usually sweet, but need a reality check. Excellently written! L.C. |
