"My eyes stare out, saddened." Saddened by what, exactly?
"Free me... this place." I'm having a difficult time picturing someone saying that. Obviously, it's quite metaphorical, but IMO it disrupts the flow of the poem when I struggle to picture someone actually speaking those words.
"Pennaceous wings." Isn't that a bit redundant? Dunno. Maybe not.
I didn't think it was depressing at all- quite the opposite, in fact. I liked it.

yes, but not depressing enough, I was trying to find a poem called "I live in a box" but this is quite similar, good poem
