The Kentuckian Scotsman chapter 3 . 5/15/2007 In my opinion, it's good, very good and very well-written. It's an unconventional story in terms of details, but the core of it is no different than any other well-written love story. Like other love stories, I think it hits right at the head of the most basic and simple of human emotions, and it strikes right into the very heart and soul of the average human. I think that, regardless of the individual reader, your story thus far strikes a common chord with all people; it has a simple theme which everyone can probably relate to. It has a rich plot and very deep, very emotionally-driven character development. And very few mistakes- and what mistakes there are, are mainly minor grammatical errors. The only thing that it is missing at this point, IMHO, is a slightly more detailed back-story, which is essential towards understanding the precise circumstances of the main plot, like exactly how Xai "fell" in the first place; was he cast down by an individual character or by some terrible accident? And if so, why and how? I think that particular subject might be a good focal point for later chapters, maybe in a flashback sequences, or maybe as dialogue between Xai and the others about his origins. In any case, it is very good, and you should continue writing onto it. I look forward towards further development of the main characters, and of the whole plot. If you work at it hard enough, and especially if you try to get it published when it's finished, I honestly think this story could be the next great romance novel for a new generation of readers. |
