![]() ![]() ![]() I read this story, then it ravishes me - on fictionpress |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hi! It's Juliet from A Drop of Romeo. When your story was featured on ADoR, a judge wrote this review for it: As much as we love a good cliché here at ADoR, I’m willing to bet that Erin, our protagonist here, loves them more. Her obsession with potential clichéd romance is extensive and engrossing, dominating her opinions about classes, friends and potential after-school activities. Erin is a well-drawn caricature of the female attraction to the formulaic romance in her desire to be “ravished” so that her fairytale can begin. She’s looking for a nice jock, or a sexy nerd, or really any of the myriad high school stereotypes available, completely ignoring the one guy who is constant in her life, Thaddeus. His refuses to be contained in a box frustrates her - he isn’t a genius, he isn’t dumb, he isn't a jock, or a musician, and he has friends in all the main social groups at school. How is someone so "normal" supposed to make a girl swoon? Although Erin can be a little grating with her single-mindedness, and we can see where her romantic nature is going to lead, the story is an enjoyable read and technically flawless. The author gently makes fun of the clichés rampant in romantic fiction, taking it to extremes to make this very valid point: there’s nothing wrong with loving a normal guy. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I once had an idea similar to this but never got around to writing it so it really made my day to read this. Great job! Definitely super fun to read ;) |
![]() ![]() ![]() GAH CUTENESS OVERLOOOOOAD BUT I LOVE IT. :D Hahaha I especially love all the ravishing. Oh yes, so very sexy. :P |
![]() ![]() ![]() Haha I love it. It's realistic and you put perspective on how I often feel after too much time spent on this site. Thank you! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved this! My favorite line was definitely "Fine. I'm not exactly a rapist, but I will take your virginity if you want." Seriously almost cried laughing. I thought was very clever of you to give an example of the many, many cliche's there are and write a story with a cliche that sort of poked fun at cute :) |
![]() ![]() Awwwwwwww! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aww, it's really sweet! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Awww! So cute and funny! Erin really is an odd character. Love it! |

![]() ![]() ![]() Perfect. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I thought this was very cute! I am like her searching for my own cliche yet I possess none of the awesome characteristics that those in the book of cliches have. Oh well, I enjoyed it! Thaddeus was right in front of her and she didn't even notice. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hehehe, I liked reading this. It was cute, funny, and really brings into light how many stories are clichéd. xD |
![]() ![]() ![]() OMG, I LOVE THIS! (except the rapist part was a bit disturbing...) So funny, with so many good lines. (One of my favorites was, "Sometimes I think men are around to remind me that clichés only happen to women in books.) You rock! |
