JtheChosen1 chapter 25 . 9/16/2008 great story! it was absolutely fabulous! |
Kanika Sanura chapter 25 . 7/5/2008 I know I've only read one of your stories, but I am amazed at how well written it is! It's really pretty hard to find a very well written story in the context and style that I enjoy reading. But, I can't really harp on other's because my writing isn't very good at this moment in time... I really wish I had more time to work on them, To Wars End is in great neglect, sadly. I was wondering if I could ask you a favor. If it's at all possible, could I come to you if I should ever need help with one of my stories? My forte is yaoi and I know pretty much what I'm doing in that context, but I'm afraid my style is in need of assisstance sometimes, though I hope I'm getting better. But on to the actual review. I loved how much description you put into each chapter. The best part of reading a story is being able to envision it with ease. I was also pleased to note that you kept your characters IN character. It's so easy for them to change over time into something that wasn't at all part of the plan. I'm looking forward to reading more of your stories! ~Kanika |
frolic-horror chapter 25 . 5/20/2008 Great story. I love the fact that you don't just write mushy slash. You actually have a complex story to tell. Love you :D Alonzo is my favorite character. He’s actually the true ruler of the kingdom, he’s a cool bureaucrat (can’t believe you pulled it off… lol), with a devious mind but good intentions (because he’s a TRUE public servant - his goal is the good of the country and its people). But the cherry on top of this is that he is so slutty (in the best way). I kept wondering if he’s the bottom or the top, because even if you clearly presented him as the seme in one of the scene, there were others in which things were not so clear. I’m guessing that he enjoys both positions (because he is that type of complex character) which makes me love him even more :P Dahl ending up being supported by Evan’s salary is so cute. Made me giggle :) Thanks for writing this story :P |
Mademoiselle Rouge chapter 25 . 4/27/2008 Aww the end's so cute. I've really enjoyed reading this story. It's well written and very sweet and I love every single character you've created. I'll definately be reading your other stories! |
sylenctone chapter 25 . 4/24/2008 This is one of those moments where I don't know whether I'm happy or sad. I'm absolutely thrilled with the way everything turned out for everyone. But I'm horribly sad that this was the last chapter. I suppose it can't be helped, the story has been told and they can all live reasonably happily for the rest of their natural lifespans, but I love this characters so much that I know I'm going to miss them. While you've tied up all the particularly *loose* ends rather nicely, there are still a couple things that I'll wonder about each time I re-read it. (And I will re-read this, I always do.) I wonder what the visiting summers between the two royal families will be like and whether Anisia and Vardon will have kids soon. I wonder whether Analise and Lasha will hit it off and what Evan's mother will think of Dahl. I wonder about everyone's future and the future of the two contries, and while I'm reasonably reassured that everything will go realistically well, I can't help but be curious. I'll just have to imagine it for myself I suppose:) But I digress. As to the actual content of the chapter, rather than the things one overly curious fangirl wonders about, I'm just so pleased. My face hurts from grinning so hard, I'm that pleased. I love that Evan will be staying on as Lord High Surgeon. I'm sure Dahl will get used to the idea of being a kept man! I suppose my worries about the populace demanding Dahl be king were unfounded. Vardon was so well received, perhaps more so because he was delayed in taking the throne. Everyone had become so anxious for things to get back to normal that they were glad to accept him, and once they did, they realized he's twice the man his father was. Anisia is perfect for him as well, complementing his strengths and supplementing the areas he's weaker in. She will be a wonderful Queen. It was wonderful to get another glimpse at Analise. I'm really very fond of her, and Lasha was adorable, asking Evan's permission to court her! Once again, I do hope that goes well. Joss' reminder at how far they've all come, combined with Cherise's point about Evan really worked to give a feeling of accomplishment and closure (despite my earlier musings). Evan has changed himself and the entire country for the better, and all because he allowed himself to love Dahl. This was a beautiful end to an entirely engaging and lovely story I've probably outdone myself with my verbosity again, but I seriously can't get enough of your work. Every story of yours that I've read is uniquely enthralling and wonderful. I've said it many times before; Thank you, very much, for writing and sharing your creative mind with us all! Sincerely, Your unabashedly effusive fangirl, jess |
sylenctone chapter 24 . 4/10/2008 Although I myself have called for Vidar's death for all this time, I can't help but agree with Evan. It is rather sad when anyone, let alone a king, dies and no one really mourns. I suppose it is a reflection upon how lonely and joyless his life was. Of course I'm still glad Alonzo killed him! And I'm not in the least surprised that Dahl guessed it right off. Keho's acknowledgment of Dahl did surprise me a little though. And Dahl should listen. To earn the respect of such a man is a rare thing. As for Dahl and Evan's reunion, it was delicious! To miss each other so much after so short a separation, they really are two halves of the same person. And it must seem like a gift that they no longer need to hide their devotion to each other. I worry though, that the general populace may try to hang on to Dahl once he starts his duties as Regent. I know *he* has every desire to step down as soon as Vardon returns but I worry that the rest of the kingdom may not have faith in the prince. I do feel rather bad for Vardon too. He is only now experiencing 'family' as most people know it. He's had precious little joy in his life, and I'm very glad he's found it. Particularly that he's found it in his inlaws-to-be. That can only be good. I'm so excited for the wedding too! Delightful! (and on a somewhat unrelated note, I'm very excited to hear you're planning a sequel for 'The Wizard of Bright Isle'! I must say, I rather agree about the kings. Vidar did deserve it, though, while King Heston's murder was unfounded. Now I'm off to delight in the Golden Teahouse!) Thank you very much for writing! Your name in my inbox simply makes my day! Your delighted fangirl, jess |
sylenctone chapter 23 . 4/3/2008 Lord Alonzo is my hero. The man is brilliant, deviant, sometimes ruthless, always efficient, sharp tongued, quick witted, and wonderfully depraved. He'd make a fantastic tactician, and I've no doubt he'd make an excellent king, though he'd likely have less time to act so shamelessly with Mister Kimson. heh. Points to Evan for not only figuring out what happened to the King, but also why it was so important for it to be kept secret. He knows very well that Alonzo did the kingdom a favor. I just can't wait until Dahl comes back to court. Even though he has to be king for a while, I'm sure he'll manage to find time for Evan. And then he can hand control back to his happily married cousin. Heh. Keho may be old, but I've no doubt he'll make the perfect ambassador to Colchara. Oh this is just so exciting! I can't wait! Thank you very much for writing! Your loyal and very happy fangirl, jess |
Prof. D chapter 22 . 3/30/2008 I'm almost near speechlessness. I. Wow. Just. I love Alonzo? I do. I really do. He's a scary, wonderful, awesome, deadly man. I... I... wow. Holy crap. I'm going to have to try and review again later because right now, I'm at a loss. Alonzo is amazing. And terrifying. But mostly amazing. |
Paon chapter 22 . 3/27/2008 Wow, yikes Alonzo. I'm kind of blown away by that death scene there, it somehow managed to come as a surprise but it was kind of perfect. Your poor dumb kings never get a chance to change their ways... Not that it would really make sense if they did mind you, but it's still funny how they all tragically come to an end. You must simply prefer princes. |
sylenctone chapter 22 . 3/27/2008 Uh... I... Wow! I knew I liked Alonzo, but... wow. I've been talking about regicide for months now, but I was still surprised when it happened. I was so worried for Alonzo when the POV switched, and then Wastow showed up. But oh, that Alonzo! I think I may be a wee bit jealous of Joss. He's an amazing man, but definitely not one I'd cross. I had my suspicions that he was contemplating killing the king, but this was spectacular! And just when Vardon and Anisia got approval from the Colcharan king for their marriage too! I can't help but wonder what the others will think when they find out. Dahl will certainly guess the truth, though I think he's suspected how far Alonzo would go. I think the same goes for Evan. He may seem innocent but I think he's learned abit about the way the world works lately. And I do recall Alonzo mentioning that he is not a nice man. Vardon may take it badly, but then again he now knows what atrocities his father carried out in the name of greed. As for the rest of Minkor, well I'm sure that Alonzo will have it arranged so that it doesn't really look like regicide. And then when the business with the mines comes out, well I can't say the people will mourn that blackguard for long. Especially when Vardon will return with a Queen and a peace treaty! Oh this is so delightful! I can't wait for Dahl to return to the palace and for Vardon to take the throne! Oh this is just so cool! (I'm actually a little disturbed by the squeal of delight I let out when I realized what Alonzo was up to. I probably shouldn't get so excited over murder, even a fictional one. eep!) Thank you so much for writing. I've been enthralled with this story all along! Your delighted fangirl, jess |
Prof. D chapter 21 . 3/25/2008 Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. EVERYONE I LOVE IS IN DANGER. |
sylenctone chapter 21 . 3/20/2008 I'm both dancing with excitement and wringing my hands with worry. I'm excited because the end of Vidar's reign seems so close but I'm overcome with worry for Alonzo. And Dahl and Evan too for that matter. I do hope Vardon manages to get himself hitched as soon as possible and then hightail it home. Oh this overthrowing business is rather dangerous, so much better to have a dose of poison or some such... though I suppose that would put suspicion on too many innocent people. Still. I worry. I can't wait till the next chapter! This is so exciting! Thanks for writing! Your nervously dancing fangirl, jess |
scoresheat chapter 20 . 3/17/2008 This is an AMAZING story. I started reading it this afternoon and even though I have class tomorrow morning I couldn't stop reading it. Thousands of people should review and say exactly the same thing: brilliance. I love (most of) your characters and even though I have a deep mistrust of that Alonzo fellow, I like him too. It's just full of plot, which is in itself interesting and awesome. Please update? Please? I have to know what happens now. |
sylenctone chapter 20 . 3/13/2008 I must admit that I clap my hands and giggle like the fangirl I call myself when I see your name in my inbox. Your writing makes me happy. So does that lovely chapter warning at the top! That first scene between Evan and Dahl was so heartbreakingly tender and sweet... I can only hope that Alonzo's message reaches Dahl soon and that he returns to court with all haste. I'm rather glad it was Alonzo who dealt with those two pieces of scum. I've got the feeling that, though he seems the perfect gentleman on the outside, he has the capacity to be ruthless and quite dangerous should the need arise. I think the need just arose. For the king to order the slaughter of so many innocent people... well, should Alonzo be able to prove it thoroughly, there very well might be civil war. Alonzo is playing a much deeper game here, and I really would not be too surprised if he has some plan to eliminate the king. I hope he can find something a bit more subtle than assasination, but I can't say I'll be sad if Vidar-the-Blackguard dies. The knowledge that his cousin, Alonzo, Evan, and Anisia all believe in him should help bolster Vardon's faith in himself. It is good that Lalde met him again to see the new, more defiant Vardon. It certainly can't hurt for the army to know that the prince is willing to stand up to his psychotic father. I have faith in Vardon too. He should do well, especially if he follows his cousin's advice and gets hitched before coming home! Ah, and what a sight for Colchara! Not only is their princess returning with the Mikoran prince in tow, but the lost miners as well! I have high hopes for their reception at the Colcharan court. I can't wait to see what happens next! Thank you very much for writing! Your overly enthusiastic, but still regicidal fangirl, jess |
Prof. D chapter 19 . 3/9/2008 THIS STORY CONTINUOUSLY GIVES ME STROKES. DEAR LORD. I LOVE IT SO HARD. |
