I love this sentence 'gigantic, gnarled trunks that stood grimly like silent guardians' Or, that segment, Amazing descriptions. Your build up to the present in the story is short and to the point and it gives all the information needed to understand without going on to long.

Hey, good to see you updated! The latest chapter was pretty good, much like the rest of the story. You really have a way to make a reader feel sorry for Jett, although I keep hoping and praying he'll fight back again. Ah well...

As usual, your dialog is simple goodness. It flows nicely and works well. Same goes for your mood setting and background description...enough to help the reader see your world in their head, but not so much it slows down the pacing. Always a good thing.

Always nice to end on a cliffhanger...just don't be so long in updating this time, OK? Heh. -p
