it's ok, i don't expect an update for at least 2 weeks. yuo have got to be the fastest updater ever. they should have an award for that on fictionpress.

so i heard from a reliable source (not really) that the characters in this are based on your classmates in high school. very cool. whoever was peyton or cross, i love them already. plus marcus.

oh... i want to see him all dressed up! haha

well, he seems to be a different cross than peyton remembered in high school. the high school cross was a slacker, a player, & a druggie. the college cross is focused, determined, & dedicated. he's come a long way.

wow- he just gets right to the point- asking her why she never dated.

*chuckles* i had a feeling there would be bets going on about peyton. peyton seems really taken aback. she seems to have this dream about high school where she just floats through without being noticed. but she was.

haha his bets are so outrageous. 40 cats & a blowup doll.

i have a feeling he's happy that she hadn't started dating or become interested in anyone. less competition for him. plus he probably knows that peyton would be the one girl to remember his high school reputation & reject him. hence the whole "not disappointed" thing.

hm... a little arrogant, huh? he knows exactly what she means but chooses to ignore it.

i think she's justified in not dating in high school. she seems more like a girl who is "one of the guys."

oh... he noticed her leaving with 2 guys. i can just imagine his look of disbelief when she tells him they're her roommates.

i had a feeling she didn't really get along with girls.

cross seems to have a good-girl image when he thinks of peyton. i guess that's why he was so surprised when she cursed. *shakes head* the influence of marcus.

speaking of him, where has that good-looking devil gone to? haha

well, he's certainly changed he doesn't expect her to do all the work or anything. he started on the project before her. no wonder peyton feels guilty. she can't grasp the fact he's changed. she still puts him in a box.

i guess he liked that little yellow sundress more than her.

she seems caught between being flattered by his attention & frustrated with the way he's playing with her. he's got her all confused.

the picking up the check issue seems to enhance the tension between them.

well, luis has put everything in perspective for her. i'm curious to see where he fits in. he seems like an interesting character. i sense another reason for his upcoming trip besides the football game.

I wish we could look a little more into Cross' head, but I guess this is written in Peyton's perspective ... actually would you ever write primarily from a guy's pov? I'm just wondering .. i guess she doesn't like the fact that cross seems to be actually putting an effort in trying to make her like him. with all the other girls, he just beckoned & they came.

no marcus in this chapter. *sigh* it's alright, i'll just appreciate him more when he does appear.

peyton seems trying to convince herself that cross couldn't possibly like her seriously, as he always played a "game." i guess that's why she rejected his offer at solara. she also probably knew she'd end up confused if she went there with him.

but then peyton gains some confidence that she won't be taken over that easily. his agreement to meet at the coffee shop makes her even happier.

Lol, at 2 last night I was up switching between math homework and fictionpress. This site draws me to it, and when I find a good story sleep [or any other activity for that matter] is usually the last thing on my mind lol. I like this chapter, minus the part where we cant read the letter yet :[

This is a great story! I mean, a real quality piece of work if the rest of the story is any bit as good as the first chapter. I like Peyton a ton already, and Jordan Cross is so likable (and I believe everyone had a "Jordan Cross" back in high school) - but so far my heart has been won-over by Marcus. What can I say? I have a weakness for boys in earrings ;)

Great job! I can't wait to read more - so I'm off to checkout the 2nd chapter. This is definitely going on my Favorites' list!

I'm still trying to figure out who Cross may be based on... but I don't remember many of the upperclassmen... Just the ones I had classes with... but still, I can probably name less than 5 of your (male) classmates off the top of my head... I hope you know it's frustrated me to the point that it made me want to search out my yearbooks, which are likely in boxes back home, so I can't... (I feel like I've asked this before, but) are the people he dated any clue? Cause I figured out who the girls were... OMFG... I think I at least partially figured it out... I'm im-ing you my suspicion...

I'm loving this story... it's all memory lane, and the names you've picked have me racking my brain to figure out why they're so familiar... Can't wait for more :D
