I really enjoyed this. It really conveyed the message you wanted to portray, and I really liked the lines "and maybe that's why we should be unfraid / and change the world / (one valley at a time)." It's... very profound, and quite beautiful.

Funny, I was actually thinking about that - we have a history midterm exam in two days, so that sort of thing is on my mind nowadays. :P Anyway, we learnt the whole "city on a hill" quote and how America seemed (seems) to think they were special (haughty of us, don't you think? :P). Anyway, excellent poem! I like how you brought in these different ideas in your imagery: Thomas Edison and lighting the world, etc.
