Ooh, wow, I love it. Great job incorporating a current event like the war into a poem that makes it just commonplace and non-specific. I love how the only colors mentioned in this are red, white and blue, so those colors pop against this bland background, which only adds more depth to the poem. And I absolutely love the line break between "with those blue-white-red striped popsicle" and "rockets & hands outstreched." So fantastic. You think it's one thing and it turns into another. I use that device a lot myself. Fantastic poem. Keep writing! :)
