Reviews for The Art of Movie Making
Lovethyneighbor chapter 1 . 8/9/2017
Type your review here. Just starting to enjoy reading your story, when I came across the swearing of "THE LORDS NAME" So sad, and disappointing when there are so many other swearing words to use. Just trying to help. Otherwise thanks for the time and effort for writing the story.
the story pickle chapter 6 . 7/26/2016
I'd just like to say that although I have a great relationship with my sister, that is the most accurate and well-developed feud I've seen: Sister 1 gets upset over semi-selfish issue, but Sister 2 rubs it in and doesn't make it better. Neither is trying to understand the other and I can't decide who I side with on their issues.

Poor John. Hahaha. Because of his english first name and last name kim, I keep thinking of this korean singer that I like- Roy Kim. He is only from a rich family and educated abroad, so I keep picturing John as looking like Roy. Haha.

There was depth in your characters, it made what could have been a cliche story into your own. Thanks for sharing.

Heyyyyoooo!

It's Amy from A Drop of Romeo! I'm here to let you know that The Art of Movie Making has been readded to the site on blogspot! After our move, we've revamped the previous reviews! Here's your new one!

When I first joined Fictionpress, I was constantly seeing updates for The Art of Movie Making as I scrolled through options to read. However, I hadn't ever clicked on it to read. And I must say that I am ashamed to have put it off until now.

Although only twenty years old, Avis Portman has spent her entire lifetime in the acting world. Her sister left the industry to pursue a college degree, leaving Avis to deal with their overbearing stage mom. But no matter how many years she's endured, she was never going prepared for the new heartthrob, Wesley Finch. We first meet Avis as she's admiring Wes from across the room at an event. Despite his leaner versus bulky frame, his dark hair and blue eyes seem to captivate her. Until he opens his mouth. Just by his actions you can see how much he despises her, whether he has a good reason or not to be civil with her. Things get even more complicated when Was and Avis are set to be the star crossed lovers in a movie. Will the sexual tension that sparks between them ignite a fiery love? Or just add more fuel to the fires of hate?

The thing I greatly enjoyed about the story, was the way TuneOut made me feel the emotions. My heart ached when theirs did, to the point I had to fight tears. I would have found it interesting how Wes dealt with things after they finished filming their movie, but because of it being in Avis' point of view, I will just have to imagine everything how I wish it would be. From family strains, to relationship problems, to the ever present body image scenario, the story made all the pressures of Hollywood relatable to us normal people. Sure, there were the minor grammatical/spelling errors, but overall it didn't deter from the overall charm of the story. It even made me get back into my own Hollywood story grove.

I apologize for not posting it on here sooner!

xoxo,
Amy

OMG, this is definitely my favorite story out of all the ones I've read on Fictionpress! This was absolutely amazing! Great job!
Guest chapter 25 . 9/7/2012
Beautiful beautiful story. So much to tell .. The couple actually reminded me of "The Notebook" So cute! I love how you work on the narration. There were lines that were quite catchy like .. "Don't break his heart" "It's not mine to break" and the part where "What does Avis mean to you" "My Existence" I think I'm seriously falling in love with it. Hopeless romantic-ness kicks in :DD

Oh my goodness. I cannot believe you began writing this when you were 15... this is incredible. I love the progression of their relationship, it wasn't fast or slow, but just worked. I especially loved how you didn't throw in some "tingling" or "spark" in their kitchen-sex-scene-makeout. Thank you SO MUCH for not falling into that cliche. This was excellent, thank you for giving me butterflies!

Wow, I didn't expect Wesley to be such a jerk. I thought he'd be an all around sweetheart. But, when a guy likes a girl he'll do anything to get attention. I think that's Wes!

I can't for the actual filming, the movie sounds like something I wouldn't mind watching or reading for fun.
bookADDICT6 chapter 1 . 9/30/2011
I like the plot so far, real interesting. Wesley is definitely not your typical male lead, but he's still considered one is intriguing. When I was reading the little description it led to think that Wesley was the actor while Avis was the uprising actress. How wrong was I, but I like the new change.

yoitsamberfool chapter 25 . 7/11/2011
I absolutely love this story! From the way that Wes and Avis interacted and their undeniable chemistry to the perfect portrayal of Hollywood and the celebrity lifestyle, everything was superb.

If you were to do a semi-sequel that focused on Autumn finding love, I would be all for it!

Job well done (to the millionth power!),

Amber
