![]() ![]() Please update! I just found your story I have to know if he come back alive! So please update soon! |
![]() ![]() ![]() A very well-written and engrossing story. I should have reviewed each chapter but I was too busy clicking the Next button. Perhaps later I'll go back and give each chapter the review it deserves... Maybe when you update? (that wasn't a hint or anything... you believe me, right?) |
![]() ![]() ![]() oh no! Corin! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I agree with Segna, who posted before me, about my view of the captain. For me, any chance of viewing him as desirable for the role of romantic interest just completely disappeared. What he did was absolutely unforgivable and no amount of explanation or character exposure will make me reconsider. I'm a bit disappointed at the handling of this, really. I would have thought that more sensitivity would have been shown when dealing with as serious a topic as this and that it included no attempts at justifying the actions of the attacker. I had high hopes at the beginning of the story whilst reading this but I think this part of it has spoiled it for me. I would like to say that I acknowledge your right to write whatever you want; that's not what I'm getting at. But I think you should realise the effect that that particularly event has on your story. From the moment I read it, the general atmosphere of the story changed from "generally harmless but with a bit of excitement" to (and I'm sorry to say, but this is how I feel and I think I should be honest) a story that employs an inappropriate consequentialism in order to arrive at the desired finish of a romantic relationship. If any of this clashes with what occurs in later chapters (such as a large-scale punishment of the Captain, much like what Segna suggests), then feel free to disregard my criticisms but otherwise, I hope that you'll take what I've written into consideration. I, in no way, mean to flame you and hopefully, I haven't done that (but this is the internet and sometimes subtleties don't translate through text) but instead offer you an opinion of a reader. I did enjoy the other set-ups for the story, even if, as another reviewer has pointed out, they seem a little black and white regarding the conflict between the colonists and the British, and for the most part (Captain aside) the construction of your characters and dialogue. I felt that a good effort was made to capture the time period in this respect. I do think that I will leave this story here as I don't think it's for me but I thought I would give you another opinion. |
![]() ![]() ![]() My point of veiw of the captain has changed forever. I don't care if he becomes nice in the end and gets on his knees and begs her for forgiveness, you can't chamge what has been done and the damaged caused. I don't care if in the end he tells her he loves her. Actions speak louder than words, and the actions he took to her can never be forgiven. I'm not sure if I want to continue with this story anymore. I wouldn't mind if in the end the captain was stoned to death (a public function that happened in the 1700's-1800's in which a criminal was pelted to death with stones) while she watched and even participated. I'm a very vengeful person. Or if the captain was so overcome with guilt he became dead and hollow on the inside and cried continuously every night and beat himself to try and shed some of his remorse. I wouldn't so much if that happened. Somehow the ending has to involve the captain being dead mentally or physically for me to be happy. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Awful awful awful cliff hanger! I loved this. You write very well! |
![]() ![]() ![]() You've got to be kidding me! That was a terrible place to leave it! How could you do that to us? Ah! I read this whole story today, and I already cannot wait much longer to find out what happens. I can't believe he left them right after he just got them back. I mean, of course I can believe it and completely understand it, and root him on, but OMG! I would be furious with him and I can bet that Katherine is going to have a few words for him if he makes it back to her. I absolutely love this story. You have such a complex plot and you write very well. This is one of the best stories I have ever read. i was on the edge of my seat many times, and you make it so easy to empathize with the characters. Katherine is definitely a very strong person to be able to fogive Corin after what he did to her. I know he did it in a fit of rage, but still, I don't know if I could have been so forgiving. It isn't unbelievable though. I can see how she could come to love him despite what he'd done. What I'm trying to say is, GREAT STORY! PLEASE UPDATE ASAP! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Kind of awkward-the British weren't soo bad, the colonists did have some flaws on them. You made it too simple-one side bad, other side good. Plus, you made the people here a bit corrupted. This kind of stuff would be extremely improper in those times. ESPECIALLY pregnancy before marriage. Someone of Kathryn's upbringing especially would be shocked at such a thought. Plus, I don't think such a man as Burckhardt would be chosen as a leader for the British colonies. No one would respect him. But that is all technical. Otherwise, a compelling read which I enjoyed very much and I very much look forward to the next chapter. |
![]() ![]() ![]() WOw, this story is completely engrossing. When Corin handed everyone over for Kathryn's sake I was ready to strangle him. I did not expect William to leave her alive (I hope you will explain his thought process). I'm so glad to see him acting like a captain and I can't wait for more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I know some people prefer that readers do not review until the last update but after a chapter like that I couldn't not. That was amazingly well written. My heart was racing and I'm ready to punch the Captain. I am continuing to read this amazing story. |
