dude. so describes my just ended relationship. whoa. so I like that you used 'Virginia" and "river"...intentional, no? Virginia...vagina...river as a phallic symbol. ha. I like it.

| did you steal my poetry chapter 1 . 2/16/2010
"she said: I am a story,
I am truth beyond the moon,
and she crept over the stars,
their tails flailing after her silky white hair.
they say she uttered not a sound
the night the tides engulfed her whole;
her wilted body-
dying like dried up thyme leaves
spewed across riotous waves-
like red roses across forgotten graves
of a time when we were all still young.
somewhere in the fence of her smile
lay a broken track. a break in a chain
that allowed water through,
like a heavy raining torrent
that enabled her to be flooded.
i found her face down that early morn',
with lips forget-me-not blue—
her last wish,
i would so believe.
i recall that blue, the color of that las before she reached nirvana.
and i say
if she is virginia.
then you are the river,
the mouth that swallowed her whole. "

ohmygod I love this. Especially how you get to the end and realize what it's about. Lovely and heartbreaking.

| sylvia's syndrome chapter 1 . 9/16/2008
your words always ache.
this is different from your usual, somehow. i wouldn't call it worse or better- it's something else. i like it just as much but it moves me in a different way.
| Edgar Wellington chapter 1 . 9/9/2008
hm...I do like this poem, but...well...clearly this is about Virginia Woolf's suicide (I hope I don't spoil this for anyone). I guess I like this poem because it feels like an opening to more grand ideas. But...in the end I find it a sad (and effective) feminist piece.
| she smolders chapter 1 . 9/8/2008
The way this ends is so simple yet poignant. I really like how the imagery and literary devices you use are so subtle and can still leave me speechless. Take care.
