I commented on this story ten years ago as Ino Aole. I haven't used this site in literally years and I can't remember the last time I actually read fic on it, but every so often something reminds me of this story and I come back and read it again.
I kind of expected, going back to it after years, to find it a bit childish as many fics I enjoyed as a teen were, but honesty it holds up really well.
You've managed to write a story that has stuck in my memory for ten years, so hey, kudos to you on that.

That was actually really touching for me. I've always been the overlooked one in the family, as opposed to my beautiful, perfect sister. She and I are not together, which is probably a good thing, but it's easy to relate to that feeling of being completely worthless and outclassed by someone.

I really liked how both Urban and Chase were mature, but still so childish. I mean, Chase, who was thirty, was still holding onto a grudge from when he was twelve. It really captures small town life, having ridiculously long memories and never letting anything go. It added a sort of charm to this story, and it also allowed their eventual...getting-together to be logical.

Anyway, I really liked this.

M, I really enjoyed this piece as well. You have such a wonderful command of language and atmosphere and situation. The imagry you delve into is breathtaking. I love the interactions and the emotions you've poured into this piece. I'm well impressed that you were able to bring so much out of Chase's character with so little dialogue for him and absolutely no internalization. You're characters practically leap of the page... err... screen. It's amazing. I adore Urban, and I like his name. Chase is right: he's an upstanding guy. I loved the part "it's not my secret". Very nicely done. _ The entire time I was reading the section where Chase comes into Urban's room I just was hoping, hoping, hoping that Regan would somehow burst in and Chase would give him what-for. *Laughs* Excellent.

love this, but i was wondering how exactly the song is realated. i listen to it and i can't exactly see how it's related. am i just missing something?

All I can really say is that I loved it. o_o

His mom and step dad are awful. So was Chase. Hopefully he won't hurt Urban again just to keep up appearances. I'm not sure I trust him yet.

It was almost bipolar in the way it changed moods towards the end but I think that added to the charm of it ]

I really enjoyed reading this; both Chase and Urban are complex characters and it was fun trying to understand them throughout the story, and the way the depth of their characters were shown slowly. Some twisted sibling rivalry XD
