Reviews for Sissy and Buddy and the Whole Nine Yards
Pantu chapter 14 . 4/22/2014
This turned out to be a really great.
I was a bit baffled by the opening four chapters, I don't mind a bit of back story, but it was a bit too removed for me to really get into the characters. I found that I didn't really like Lars - which is perhaps part of the point - but apart from a bit of a wierd smile I had no idea why he didn't like Buddy, and that annoyed me. Once you'd got into the parts of the story where there was dialogue I found myself really enjoying Lars's tale. He's an interesting character, and once he had conversation to bounce off and other people to be framed against I understood and liked him more.
I laughed a few times, especially through the last handful of chapters. But I think my favourite scene is definitly the one where Lars was taking Buddy to the bus station. There was a lot of atmosphere, and I had a really great visual of the whole scene - plus the dog was a great and bizzare touch.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Depth-of-Field chapter 14 . 5/9/2013
hehehe, that was great. I love how incredibly dense and unemotional Lars can be, like how he broke up with Henry the moment he got engaged and they were both like, "Yup, seems like the best course of action. Good plan, good plan!" Really wonderful job!
Tinyyellowboxes chapter 14 . 2/11/2013
This was such a cute story. I loved how well you portrayed Lars. You really captured the idea behind a scholar, and it gave the whole story and flow a type of legitimately that I really haven't read it a while. Great job. I loved it.
i-wish-i-had-wings chapter 14 . 9/18/2012
i love your way of writing, it's flowing and really captures the mc's personality :) lars was an interesting character; i liked him throughout the story, but he grew on me after picking buddy up in the rain. lars is a bit more..analytical..than i am, and though i would have done things in a different way, i still agree with him on it being buddy's choice; i'm a firm believer in that your life is your own.

i liked the story, but what i enjoyed most of all was getting to know lars and buddy as time went on. i loved how buddy changed when lars's image of him did :) i don't get "daddy" though; why try and control someone like that? he reeled me up pretty bad, and even though this isn't that kind of story i wish for karma to bite in the ass real bad! guess i'll just have to imagine it happening...xD
mousegirl05 chapter 14 . 1/15/2012
Greetings! I enjoyed this story a lot. It wasn't especially fast paced, and didn't really change pace, but it had a rhythm I guess and it fit Lars's character quite well. So I suppose you get double props for the writing style matching your characters, intentional or not. _ I thought you did a very good job with Buddy, and I just love the undependable narrator. It's amazing how Buddy 'changed' because Lars's perception of him change. Very well done there. I enjoyed the dynamics of the little family as well. It worked, in the believable sense. So nicely done.

Firstly I want to apologize for not reading more of your stories. They tend to stir up a lot of feelings in me that I find hard to deal with. Anyways, I overcame my fear of emotional suffering to read this story, and I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed the characters – Buddy most of all, but Sissy too, and even Lars. At first I kind of hated him, but like Louise said, he grows on you. I liked the reference to the Brownings; it really put things in perspective and made the whole relationship more enjoyable for me. It was like a key into Lars’ mindset.

All in all, a sweet story admirably told.
frolic-horror chapter 14 . 9/10/2011
I kind of disliked Lars at time, but I liked how geeky he was :)

Interesting story - definitely something different and new and I'm glad to have found it :)

D'aw, Buddy is so cute, and Lars falling for him now that he knows him better, the whole thing is just adorable.
overlordpotatoe chapter 14 . 6/3/2011
Aw, you have sweet boys.
Collins-A chapter 14 . 6/1/2011
I don't think I've ever reviewed this story while it was still in progress.

I absolutely loved this story, and I really like how it ended. not like most stories where there's an exclamation of "I love you"'s and then it's done. this ends like their lives are still going to continue - like everyone's life. things are still undetermined and I like that.

I don't even know if what I said makes sense.

:D
HennyF chapter 14 . 6/1/2011
I loved this story. I love how Buddy and Lars took forever courting, like nerdy victorians. I'm somewhat sad that it is over. Your fantastic!
Rae Kitano chapter 14 . 5/31/2011
This was a great story. And I think your have ended it well.

Leaves the reader to use their own imagination as to how things work out for Buddy.

Well done, I loved it.
Esquirella chapter 14 . 5/31/2011
You could do an epilogue where Coco is running the family business and Lars and Buddy are happily together ... ? Hint, hint!
frogs of war chapter 14 . 5/31/2011
You're right, it isn't. And the story does seem over, aside from whether Buddy will stay with Lars. I'm going to guess from his actions that he'll stay, but I was missing some sort of declaration on Buddy's part, that he was glad to be home or that that (being with Lars) was what he was missing/looking for (he might have said it before, but that was months ago and people change) or that even if he picks one of his many option that takes him from Lars, that their relationship will continue.

I could tell Buddy enjoyed the sex, but what about all the other parts of his no-longer-platonic relationship with Lars?

But really Buddy has always seemed a little vague to me, so maybe the lack of a statement is part of who he is.
paputsza chapter 13 . 5/17/2011
This story is very calming to me. I don't know if it's because I just finished finals or if it's because of your voice, but its nice.
