Excellent one-shot, and something that I can completely relate to.

Like always, you have good details, a great way of showing us his fear. I particularly like this one because of the mania and controlled panic of Clayton, and the secret that makes him human (in contrast to his almost superhuman intelligence).

I find it interesting that though a lot of your characters work in intelligence agencies, you focus on relationships, rather than action driven omg the world is going to explode plots. Unexpected, and it works well.
