awestruck4 chapter 1 . 5/20/2009 Oh my word! I'm am so pissed at those plagiarists! how could they do that to you? I've been a reader on fictionpress for quite some time and i have gotta say you are the best author on this site. your work is so polished, practically free of grammatical errors, and you have the most original plots. i definitely understand your need to preserve your work, but at the same time, i'm gonna miss your stories and reading your updates. :( i was in the middle of reading your black sun series on fanfiction and am totally crushed that i no longer will know what will happen all because of those idiotic plagiarists! ugh! i wish you the best of luck in getting your work published because YOU DESERVE it! |
chocolatechipash chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 oh man, i feel like crying for you what horrible people, i really really hope you do continue flame of rome because i think it is brilliant! (and i'm totally not into that kind of stuff but anything from you is brilliant), and i hope you continue writing again sometime or get published for your other stories, your an amazing writer and i've loved going on this journey with you, wishing you the best of luck for the future in terms of writing and life x |
kikichaka chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 Your stories have been my favourites in Fiction press. I keep re-reading them. I hate those plagiarists. I love Dom, Pere and chan and Logon. I like to read about them so many times. How I am going to miss you? I might even stop reading fiction press. As you were the reason I stared reading in here. I hope one day your works get published and I am able to recognize your work then. Your fan. kiki |
tamaraJ chapter 1 . 5/20/2009 I think they should consider disabling the copy/paste function on fictionpress. I guess it still won't stop the adamant liars and cheaters, but it'll at least keep away the lazy ones. I feel for you Myrika, and totally understand the move. I really do have a ton of respect for you as a young writer, and hope I'll get to read more of your work whatever way you decide to share it with us. |
cheesed chapter 1 . 5/20/2009 Been a reader of yours for a long time now, and this really breaks my heart, but this is what the world has become and we gotta live with that. So I think you should get yourself published (if that is at all within your plans)! With the myriad of crap that's being sold as books these days, I'm willing to bet getting some of your works published won't be difficult. And I for one, am willing to shell out a few bucks for an excellent read that I'll keep coming back to. I also understand that getting published is a very corrupt business in of itself, but it'll at least save you all this headache, and us the heartache. By the way, totally love the story, wish I knew how it ended in an ideal world. |
Fuji Syusuke chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I am very sorry to hear that. I completely understand though. I only had one of my stories plagiarized and I took everything down. So, while I'm very sad to hear that I will never to get to read more of your wonderful stories. I'm sorry I didn't review the previous chapters of this story, but I was quite addicted. I always felt you were the best author on this site, and I am quite sad to see you go. Thank you for providing hours of entertainment and I wish you the very best of luck as you continue to write. Hopefully one day you'll be able to publish your stories and I can read them then. Again, sorry to hear about the plagiarism. And I hope that even while you aren't putting your stories on fictionpress that you'll keep writing. Best of luck. |
Aria Deloncray chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I am so heartbroken about this! You're one of my favorite authors here and Against All Odds was the first fic I read on this site and is still my second favorite (first is Everybody Hates Logan). I don't see the point of plagiarism at all and can't stand the people who do it. You're writing is definitely worthy of publishing and I hope one day you'll try and publish AAO despite the problems because I'd buy it in a heartbeat. |
Poetess111 chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I am SO sorry to hear about all of your plagiarism issues! I really love your River Valley books as well as the Rome stuff. I would love to be included on any sort of list/email you may send out if anything is available for purchase. It is so unfortunate that your talent is recognized in such an inappropriate way. I wish you all the best and I hope that we continue to hear from you. |
Chryse chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I have been a fan of your fictionpress stories for several years now. I am terribly sorry that those people who chose to steal your work have now kept future readers from continuing to enjoy it. I hope that you do get your stories published in the future; if you do, be sure to post a notice or something here on fictionpress - I'll be sure to take a look. My best compliments to you. |
HoneyAppleEater chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 OMG thats so sad plz tell me if u come back to fictionpress or any other websites because i never read the end of against all odds. Can u plz tell me wat happened in the end? Also, I think im speaking for alot of people on fictionpress: WE WILL MISS YOU! Good luck with your future writing, ur an awsome writer |
abmoreland chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I am just so bummed right now. I was really getting into this story and so excited to read what would happen next. Same goes for Still Waters, I just love the River Valley gang so much. I am sorry I never had the chance to read any of your other stories though. I am so going to miss the River Valley gang, and this Rome crew as well. I really don't know enough about this online writing universe to understand what has happened to you, I am just an avid reader and only a few months into this reading online world. I am really enjoying it and will miss your stories so very much. I would gladly pay to be able to finish reading your stories and any new ones as well. I am a great believer in what goes around comes around so those that have wronged you will get the trouble that is owed them. See this is why I am starting to choose only completed stories to read, this way I am not left to wonder. There is enough stress and hurt in my life, that is why I come here to escape. I wish you well and can only hope that you will be encouraged by all of this to get your work published so that we can continue to enjoy reading it. Best of Luck to you. |
Written chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 hey lady. heard a little bit about this on LJ. sigh. just wanted to say that i found your work initially when you were writing "mating habits" (i think), and I thought it was a cut above most of what could be found here. since then... well, it's amazing how much you've improved, and "eidolon" and "abide with me" were both flat out amazing. i really think you should consider editing and trying to publish "abide with me". with a lot of time and dedication, it could be done... in my opinion, anyway. so yeah, you're amazing, and it sucks that other people have tried to profit off of you because of that. I wish you the best in the future and I hope that if you do publish, you let us know! I would buy. and if you come back to finish things on FP, I wouldn't mind either. but yeah, I totally understand. sadface. will miss your smart writing. |
Alix chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 That's horrible that people are plagiarizing your work! I love them, especially your Black Sun pieces! I guess they would be vulnerable on your website too...urgh! It might not be enough as legal proof, but I would be your witness any day. I've been reading your stories during my enitre grad school, undergrad, and maybe even high school careers. |
Anna chapter 1 . 5/20/2009 First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for all your work. I always have enjoyed reading your pieces. I hope you can definitely recover from this and maybe move on to the world of publishing. These kinds of things are incredibly enraging but they also make you stronger. I hope to see your work again some day whether it's on Fictionpress or in Barnes and Nobles. Best of luck to you! |
ArtsyTartsy86 chapter 6 . 5/20/2009 I've never been much of a reviewer over the years but I've always felt that your work is by far some of the best that fiction press has ever seen. I’ve read nearly every story you had posted and have always felt that you have an amazing talent. It saddens me greatly that you've come to the conclusion to not post any of your stories online anymore. It’s a loss that hurts because you have such a talent and ability to draw a person in. You have a way with words that allows a person to dream as they read. I saw this when I first read Against All Odds, and later with Reason and Romance. A personal favorite of mine, but I do enjoy the second version better, it makes more sense and fills in some gaps I felt you had in the first version. I didn’t have the pleasure of finishing “Abide With Me” or “Eidolon” but with what I read you seemed to be moving away from a more clichéd storyline. You’ve always had a way of taking a very cliché idea and creating the most unique jaw-dropping story from that idea. I was very much looking forward to seeing the growth of your writing in your original version of “Flame of Rome”. I stayed up all night when I found your FF version of the story and have greatly enjoyed this version. I know very little historically about Rome, but through your writing I feel that I’ve learned something more than I knew. I could obviously not know anything because it’s your story and you can change whatever you like, but I doubt you have. Besides the obvious of shape shifters and vampires not existing I get a sense that you’ve done a lot of research so that you are historically accurate. As an artist myself I value research and greatly respect those that understand and have knowledge of what it is they are creating. “Flame of Rome” is an amazing story and I hope that you finish it someday, if only for your own enjoyment. It saddens me even more that someone would have so little respect for you as a writer that they would feel the need to plagiarize your work. In some ways it’s flattery, they liked your story enough to try and steal it, yet somehow I think you would have been happier if they had simply told you how much your work is enjoyed. I’ve enjoyed all of your stories so much and I’m sorry I haven’t posted more to let you know how much I appreciate you as a writer. I understand how much it hurts to have your work taken in such a way, and that there’s really nothing that can be said or done to make it better for you. With this all being said I think you’re right to stop posting on fiction press, as much as it pains me to say. I think you have an amazing talent, an amazing way with words. Your ability to capture a scene, to express emotions, and all with words is one to be cherished and applauded. You should be published, you should take that step for yourself and while it may be a long rigorous step you can do it. Your work deserves a front cover a back cover and all that comes in between in bold permanent black ink. Don’t let this bump in the road keep you down because that would be a real shame, you have a gift, and you really should share it with the world. Best of luck, and chin up. We all hit snags in the road. They make us stronger if we let them and can be the determining factor in whether we make it in this world or not. When you get published, because I know you will, let me know. Steph |
