Kee-Chayne chapter 6 . 5/24/2009 Oh my God, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear about this plagiarism case, and I hope you feel better soon. |
gulistala chapter 6 . 5/24/2009 I think I'm going to cry. No, really. ( You're right to remove your stories, I just wish there was a way we, the readers who really want to read rather than anything else, could continue to read your excellent writing. Take care, I can't wait to see if there will be anymore updates. gulistanlik |
Lady Katreina chapter 6 . 5/23/2009 Oh frick. But I understand. Hey, if you ever feel like using -my- story ideas I'd love to give you permission? -nudge, nudge- ... I'm not joking. But I'm not pressuring, because you... you are amazing, and I hope you can get your future work published and admired by all. Thank you for putting your work up. Thank you. |
posthaste chapter 6 . 5/23/2009 Hey Myrika, I'm sure that as the writer, your pain is far greater than that of your readers. Still, as one of your readers who (sadly never reviewed) had the chance to read all your works before you took them down, I just want to wish you the best of luck publishing and writing, even if your trust in the public has received a serious blow. Thanks for making those stories available, even for a while. |
flights.of.fantasy chapter 6 . 5/23/2009 Oh man, my heart goes out to you. Such a pity though, I still remember those days when I waited eagerly for each new update of AWM and Still Waters, rereading each new chapter countless times before I'd be satisfied. I wanna write a really kickass review but I can't seem to find the words to say. D: All I know is that I will really miss your stories and especially the loss of all the potentially fabulous stories that were to come. This is the first time I've checked out Flame of Rome because the idea of a supernatural historical story did not appeal much to me but curiousity led me here when you said in your Still Waters AN that Flame of Rome would had been your best story ever. And now that you've piqued my interest with these meagre chapters, the knowledge that more would not be forthcoming for a really really long time is a very sad thing. ): Sad faces all round but I understand why you had to do this even though it really sucks knowing that there wouldn't be anymore of your beautiful stories. I can't even remember how many times I've reread EHL and TSWAQ. I have this bad habit of reading while eating and when I'm alone at home sometimes, I would eat my meals with my laptop in front of me and your stories never fail to please even when it's been read a thousand times. Ahh I'm still sad and I think I'm rambling. All the best in your future endeavours and if you ever do publish Flame of Rome (or any other works actually), do drop us an AN telling us so we would be able to get our hands on legitimate solid Myrika originals. I'm sure you'll be great in whatever you do. :D Your writing style has progressed and evolved so much, back from the beginning with MHPP and AAO. I still remember following you right from then. As your stories grew more varied in nature and oh so interesting, we as your readers grew too. We followed your stories all these years, I think both parties matured hand in hand. It is such a tragic waste that there are people out there who would even think of plagiarizing and actually carry out those unmentionable actions, but this is a strange world. I guess this is goodbye? HAHA. I hope to see your works in the stores someday! All the best and have a great life. |
oh no chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 I think the website that I mentioned earlier was cut off :/. The website's name is "authonomy". Googling it works. I really hope you take it into consideration :). |
Uninvited chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 I find the actions of those people deplorable and I am truly saddened that you must suffer so cruelly from the thoughtless actions of others. I have always enjoyed reading your stories and have always anxiously awaited an update from you and I am truly upset that thanks to some heartless thieves the rest of us honest people who enjoy reading your work will no longer be blessed with your extraordinary writing talents. |
Disappointed reader chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 This is so sad. I understand why it happened but it's heartbreaking - for you and for us. |
Frenchyesca chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 So once again I saw the little [FP New Chapter] thing in my inbox for Flame of Rome, and once again I got really excited. Then I read the note and of course, was greatly disappointed.:( People really suck. |
ice flyer chapter 4 . 5/22/2009 Oh, I forgot to add this to my last review, but on a personal note I am REALLY going to miss your stories. Clicking on your fictionpress account was part of the routine of my day, basically! Email-Facebook-Myrika update? Even if you hadn't updated, I can't tell you how many times I've read and re-read all your stories and gushed over how much I love Quentin with my friend and just revisit the characters I grew to love so much. And like so many others, I think Against All Odds was one of the first stories I read on FP. I will really miss re-reading your stories. They are old friends! And I hope you take that as a gigantic compliment. Anyways, thank you for providing stories that touched so many people for so many years! |
Desert Illusion chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 OMG Myrika! That's TERRIBLE! *gives you a comfort hug* I can't believe someone would do that! That's so cruel to steal like that! Your work is amazing! You've come a long way with your writing, and I'm very proud of all you've accomplished. You are one of the very few authors who has the ability to capture and fascinate your audience through words. I've loved each and every one of your stories, and this is such a shame that someone would do that to you. I am truly sorry. :( You made the right decision by taking down your stories. You definitely have a chance of publishing your stories. I think despite your stories were stolen, your writing style is unique, and only YOU can replicate your own work. Can't you write another story...showing that YOU are the original author, and here is the proof. I mean...anyone can copy...but to create a story and give life to characters like only you have the ability to do...no one can do that. Trust me. It's pretty damn hard to do that...especially with an author like you. I've been reading stories on FP for many many years now...almost 7 years now...and you're one of the BEST writers out there. And that's saying something. Publish your work one day, Myrika. I'll definitely buy it! :D Take care and I wish you ALL THE BEST in the world and with your future writing. The only consolation I have is that some legal action will be taken against those people who have done this to you. And think about that 'trail story' proving your works validity. I dunno how publishing goes...but maybe you can come to some sort of agreement, and show them that these are YOUR original stories. I'll REALLY miss you Myrika! *hugs* With much best wishes and love, -Maha |
White Rose Blossom chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 Wow, I just heard about this and that's just horrible! It's one of the reasons I was always wary of ficpress but I thought I was just being overly cautious! I am so sorry that that happened to you, you're an amazing writer and don't deserve that. It would totally be very cool if you one day decided that you could use Lulu to get your stories to your readers, who I'm sure would pay for them, either via download or by actual book. (And if you ever want to do that and need help/tips about Lulu, I'd be glad to help, I just used them to self-publish (but kept privately accessible) my sci-fi novel that was four years in the making. It makes me so sad that Lulu was used in plagerism, because it's such a great/helpful site otehrwise). Good luck with your future writing and future stories, it would be great to see you on even the self-published world or if not in the big bookstores :) Best of luck and deepest sympathies, -Aria |
mlovektowsing chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 I'm terribly sorry that you've had to deal with so much abuse of your writing. I don't know what else to say, but I hope that someday you will decide to post again. I dearly love your stories. Although I myself would never consider plagiarizing you, I understand why you are taking these actions. Hoping to hear from you in the future, whether on this website or as a published author, your devoted reader, MK |
terrorofthehighway chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 This is a rather hard message to write. Honestly, I didn't prepare for this. Mentally- yes. Emotionally, no. I had to go away to arrange my thoughts into logical sentences. I understand what you're feeling now- I can empathize. But as a reader who awaited the next chapter of each story, and hoped to see its end, I'm feel kind of disappointed in those who did not have the moral integrity to refrain from plagiarism. But anyway. I'm not trying to change your mind here, because I wouldn't want to. It wouldn't be fair. I'm just want you to announce when you do publish something, so I can go out and buy it. [when it actually reaches my country's bookshelves, which can take a year.] I wish you luck in your future endeavors [be they writing or otherwise], and I'll like to thank you for brightening my life every time you updated. |
Pinksnowfalls chapter 6 . 5/22/2009 Myrika, Wow, I'm so sorry about everything that's happenend to you over this. Plagiarism on that massive of a scale has to be a writer's worst nightmare. I say, curse plagiarists to the deepest circle of hell. You've been one of my favorite authors on Fictionpress ever since I first discovered your stories. I'm sure you have no idea who I am because I don't get to review a lot (I barely have time to read.) But I've got to say I'm truly devastated that this has happened to you. I really hope you get as many of your novels published as you possibly can; it'd be a shame to never hear of them again, especially Eidolon and Abide With Me. Best luck and wishes, Pinksnowfalls P.S. Don't let the plagiarists get you down; they just wish they had half your talent. |
