I have been reading this story for the last few weeks and am sad that its come to a close, your an amazing writer and I've come to enjoy all your works! On to another of your stories!
Meli Sand chapter 35 . 7/28/2013
It took me three days to read Four Kingdoms, and most of that reading took place in my bed in the middle of the night, when I should have been catching up on my sleep. The rest of it happened this morning; I literally woke up, went straight for my laptop, and read to the end. :D I absolutely love this story. I will now proceed to list off the reasons why:
ONE: The writing. That's the thing that I always judge first in a story, because I'm a slight grammar snob (though my own grammar isn't that great). The writing here is grammatically correct - at least, I can tell that you know what you're doing - and flows really well. I wish I could write like this.
TWO: The world. It's a fantasy world made up of various peoples, each of which symbolize/worship/respect a certain animal, and each of which have their own religion, culture, and history - what more could a fantasy addict want?
THREE: The characters. I absolute adore all the characters - even Karju (don't judge). They're just so wonderfully complex and real. My favorite character is Jabali. I never really thought of her as a damsel-in-distress until you mentioned that in your author's note (I read all of those too). She always seemed very, very strong to me. Cal is definitely my second favorite. He's so sweet and so brave. Plus, according to the quiz, he's the one I'm most like. I loved the sappiness between Jabali and Cal, and if I’d been around when you were still writing this, I probably would’ve wanted the baby to be Karju’s. So even though I would've preferred it if she hadn't been raped, I'm glad that everything turned out the way it did. It just fits. :) I’ve been having mixed feelings about Marcianus and Naja. The romantic side of me threw a temper tantrum when Naja died, and the more practical side of me acknowledged that Daciana was probably healthier for him. But seriously, Marcianus and Naja were just gorgeous, especially together. I predicted that Daciana would marry Marcianus and have his kids because Naja would refuse, but when Naja revealed that she was pregnant, I figured that she and Marcianus would live happily ever after . . . and then she died. Then, because I was already teary-eyed from reading about Jabali’s rape and Xanthus’s death, I just broke down. :( The worst part wasn’t even the fact that she died – it was knowing how much her death hurt Marcianus. But, again, I am glad that Daciana was there to help him. As for Karju . . . well, I have a soft spot for completely evil characters (characters, not people). They’re so unlike anything I could ever dream of. Ardea was probably my least favorite character, for a while at least, mostly because she was such a bratty princess. I did warm up to her, however, and I really respected her decision to travel with Sirtalis. Egretta just made me laugh. She was so conceited, but I had to admire how gutsy she was. I could probably go on about the rest of the characters, but that would take too long, so I’ll stop here.
FOUR: The plot. Gosh, I love it when the stories of several characters intertwine and come together. It feels oddly fulfilling. :P There was just the right amount of action, drama, romance, suspense, cruelty, kindness, etc. and so on.
Basically, this story is amazing. I feel like I’d be able to provide more constructive criticism if I hadn’t just finished reading, but I’m afraid that all you’ll get from me now is a bunch of praise. XD Sorry for how long this review is. Keep writing, please!
fairies and snapple chapter 35 . 10/31/2012
Hi! I know this story is old, but I really enjoyed it. And my favorite character was DEFINITELY Ardea. I actually would love to know more of her story, should you for some reason ever decide to continue it.
Great job!
Lady Dan chapter 29 . 10/21/2012
Oh, hey! I got Cal!
Lady Dan chapter 27 . 10/21/2012
Just a small thing: MAGGOTS. UGH

I've also heard of using them like that... There's also pools of fish in which people with skin diseases wade into and the fish eat off the infected bits. It sounds utterly awful, but you do what you have to do...
Lady Dan chapter 26 . 10/21/2012
I had Ardea, Simus, and Naja as my list, but Ardea was my top choice 'cause I had some idea she'd bite the dust to finish off her character development (that sounds pretty bad, retracing that). Actually I'm really glad it wasn't her as she's kinda my favorite character. So much character growth for her! While this might come off bad, she seems like, of anyone, she's grown and changed the most. So I'm glad it doesn't end badly for her.

That aside, I can't feel that sad for Naja. This seems exactly like the way she'd want to go. I feel just awful for Marcianus. I'm also pretty bummed since I loved their power couple. Haha
Lady Dan chapter 21 . 10/21/2012
So, I've not reviewed any of your other chapters, mostly 'cause I'm on an iPod touch and im an abysmally slow, awkward one-finger typer. OTL

However! Thank you for the inclusion of meteorology. XD I was think about it everytime the terrain and climate was mentioned. As a meteorology major, it gives me a pinch of weather happiness.

Also, I'm hedging some bets as to who might kick the bucket... :( we'll see... Haha
Greenie10 chapter 35 . 7/23/2012
Bravo! I am happy and sad the story is finished.

I'm amazed at how well you made all the characters, each with their own distinct personality. Ardea remained my favourite till the end, of course, but you had me liking Marcianus as well, who I didn't like at first due to his promiscuous ways.

I liked the conclusions to all the characters lives, it'd be interesting to see what they get up to later on it their lives :)

Thanks again for this marvellous tale!

Aw, babies... make the toughest into goo.

Teary eyed I am. I love anything with babies... :)
Greenie10 chapter 33 . 7/22/2012
Sweet chapter :) I like the progress Daciana and Marcianus are making. Sure the bonding may take time, but such relationships last longer and stronger.
Greenie10 chapter 32 . 7/22/2012
I like this ending :D I'll admit at the beginning I was a Simus and Ardea fan, but I migrated quite easily Ardea and Sirtalus as my fav pairing ;) They are good together, as friends or more. Although it seems cute, having two characters who constantly bicker as a couple, it really wouldn't work out in real life. It's best Simus and Ardea remain friends. I reckon Simus would make a fun brother in law ;) haha
