Reviews for Dear Felicia
Tash Sta. Maria chapter 57 . 9/24/2011
Oh my god. First you made me cry during Nicholas' death and now this. :'(

This is honestly one of the best pieces on fictionpress I've seen in awhile. You don't know how glad I am to have stumbled on this.

All your characters are immensely enjoyable to read and all of them are realistic. Felicia isn't your typical protagonist with the devastatingly good looks and snags the prince in the end. And even though Leslie was gorgeous she had her flaws. Everyone's so realistic and flawed .. it's beautiful.

I guess I sort of liked the ending even though it was so heartbreaking. Well I didn't exactly like it, it got me incredibly depressed and mopey. Well actually I can't really make up my feelings on it. Which sort of (maybe) makes me a hypocrite. Which makes me extremely unhappy. (Which is the reason why you should write an epilogue. Pretty please? Pout.)

I can't believe how young you were when you wrote this. You're brilliant.

I also can't help but think that Felicia ended up as a pirate to journey the wonders of the world. Meh, maybe it's just me :p
enchanting elf chapter 18 . 9/22/2011
I love how much time you have taken to write this story so well! It is clear the you pay attention to the little things, and your style of writing gives me the image of a time where English was spoken with more formality. I don't usually review on fictionpress, but in this story some of your phrases caught my attention and made me smile.

"If we were given a single oppurtunity to become her, we would not hesitate. The reason no one liked her was because she was the quintessent image of what we all wanted to be. We all knew that if we were her, we would behave similarly. If we were her, why treat anyone with respect? She was perfect. She didn't need our support and devotion to remain so lovely and rich."

I absolutely adore this section! In the tales I have read I have often thought similar things to what you wrote, and you put it into such eloquent verse too!

"In summary, the whole royal family was a joke.

I wanted to beg for a day which I could lead. A day when I could place that crown on my brow and make things happen. I could change so much in a day. I could show the people what a real leader did and the real decisions she made."

This section makes me grin (and secretly jump for joy, while shouting, "YES! CROWN HER! SO THOSE IDIOTS CAN SEE WHAT SHOULD BE DONE!") I love how strong you have made Felicia, and I am excited to see how you maintain that strength if (and when) she encounters a person who captures who heart entirely. :)

Amazing job! ;)
Cheryl White chapter 57 . 9/10/2011
I DEMAND YOU WRITE AN ALTERNATIVE ENDING.

The last chapter literally broke my heart, especially when Gregory broke down. :( Yet he still let her go... It's great how he gave her freedom, and let her make her decision. It shows what a great man he really is.

And I guess the reason why your writing affects me so much is that you're just so good at it. You evoke feelings and images so intense and vivid that I couldn't help but be drawn to this story. And I've got to tell you, I literally couldn't stop reading this story after the third part! Hahaha! Her romance with Prince Gregory was just so flawless and heart-wrenching, and this story, all in all, is a realistic tale of a slave girl growing up and attaining her dreams.

I still get over the ending, you insufferable author. My heart still aches over it. Ugh. And I'd seriously hold that alternative ending against you, but right now, I can't help but think the ending was fitting.

Felicia didn't succumb to submission like Lady Hayley. She strove for her freedom, got it, and is making the best out of it. :) I know that it's a very appropriate ending, but until the very last word, I was clinging to hopes that she'll go back to Gregory and say "despite it all, I'd still choose you." HAHAHAHAHA.

Wahhh! I really can't get over this! :(( I think this is the longest, spontaneous review I've ever written, and I'm so saddd. :)) This story really needs some review-loving.

This story is just so amazing, and the writing is superb. You might be able to publish this as it is! :)) Well, you'll have to edit of course, but that's all technicalities!

And I know you said you won't make a sequel, but I'd really love it if you make a short epilogue or something where she returns to Gregory who hasn't married and...

Sigh. I'm such a hopeless romantic. HAHAHA.

I seriously can't get over the ending. :( It's so freaking bittersweet and the conflict between the two components of bitter and sweet are literally tearing me apart. Like how Felicia was torn apart, choosing between her love and her dream.

Anyways, thank you for the amazing experience! That was one hell of a story. It made me feel so many things, and I feel like I know ever character personally with the way you portrayed them - it's just so believable, their personalities, their strengths, their flaws... This story was a perfect mixture of all emotions in a realistic story of an independent, intellectual slave girl who has always dreamed of freedom. I'm so happy that she got it in the end. (But I wish she also got her prince.) HAHA! Keep writing! You're an excellent author!
KittyCatTwilight chapter 57 . 9/1/2011
OK, now you've done it! I'm crying happy? O

I can't believe this is the end. Though it's said that Felicia and Gregory did not stay together, I can understand what Felicia really wanted in her life. The fact that Gregory was able to see that makes him a special guy.:)

Though it's the ending of this wonderful tale. I feel like it's only the beginning of Felicia's life. It took her eighteen years but she finally has the freedom she yearned for. Throughout the entire tale her happiness is what I hoped for.

Wanda Walker... you are an amazing writer and I can't wait to see what you come out with next!
KittyCatTwilight chapter 56 . 9/1/2011
I can't believe he did that...0.0 The saying, "If you love them set them free" literally takes form in this story. I'm happy for Leslie and Micheal, but I can't help but wonder what will happen in Felicia's future... Only one way to find out! On to the next chapter!

Hopefully it won't be the last!o
KittyCatTwilight chapter 55 . 9/1/2011
Well, I didn't expect Felicia to ha able to come up with such a reckless plan. But I can't help but love her character for that. XD She'll do anything for her friends and you can't help but admire that.:)

P.S. I'll miss this story when it's over. I'll cry, I tell you, I'll cry!TToTT
KittyCatTwilight chapter 54 . 9/1/2011
Ouch, poor Felicia has so much to think about. Either she gets married to Gregory or she goes freely away. Decisions, decision... I just knew he was going to propose, it was just coming. :) I only hope that she will be able to figure out what to do in the very end. I hope her decision will lead this to a happy ending. Xp
KittyCatTwilight chapter 53 . 9/1/2011
Awww! This was such a sweet chapter.X3 I can't open Gregory and Felicia are. Don't they see? They belong together!;) Well that's my opinion anyway. I can see Gregory was hinting at something in their conversation... I'm pretty sure I know what it is, but I'll wait until the next chapter before I make any guesses.:)
KittyCatTwilight chapter 52 . 9/1/2011
OMG! o That was so EPIC!

I knew Maternal was an enemy spy the whole entire time. But I didn't think she could be so... cruel. It was so exciting to see Felicia take so much action. She was afraid to death but still managed to be able to help. That takes a lot of courage to risk your own neck for someone else.:) Felicia rocks, and can kick anyones butt. XD
The Meepsta chapter 57 . 9/1/2011
Wanda Walker

Although I have just turned thirteen years old, my dream for the future is to become an author.

For inspiration and grammar, I read as many stories I can in the fantasy genre. Some are properly published and sit in my bookshelf, often read 10 times, but the others are on fictionpress and similar websites.

I am proud to say that no single story has EVER inspired me as much as your 'Dear Felicia' has in a mere two days!

1. First, I loved the ending. Not exactly 'pretty', but realistic in the circumstances. Not every story has to have a main character wedding, and you have done this with Leslie and Michael already. A surprising combo, but I liked that too! It shows just how devoted Felicia is to helping others.

2. The way you are not afraid to kill main characters makes you a very mature author. Surprises are always good for shocking your readers and making them even more interested than before!

3. Your writing is fantastic, and I have only noticed ONE spelling mistake in the whole story! One in 271,857 words? Unbelivable...

I wish that at my age, (a little older than you were when you did this story) I could write as well as you. But with much time and practice, I hope I will get there some day.

Reading others' reviews, I see that it is not just me that thinks this way about this story. Please publish it officially, and I will track it down and buy a copy.

If you believe it, you can make this book a bestseller. I am not joking. With a little bit of revision, this story will go a long way.

The Meepsta (My name on FanFiction. I will get FictionPress eventually, but not until my main story on the go is more developed.)
Ioga chapter 57 . 8/23/2011
Yikes, I caught up with the missing couple of chapters and the story was done! You finished this behemoth! Congratulations!

I think that after all this heartbreak this was really the only possible ending. I was really worried about the non-decisive discussion with Gregory - couldn't go sleep before she got to the point where she committed to the leaving bit in words at last instead of just implying it with 95% certainty. X-)

The combo of Leslie and Michael was unexpected and delightful! As was the dramatic turn of mrs. Gregory into a wicked witch of battleville. Although I got confused a bit (due to the long break) what country she was _supposed_ to be from if not Ane. I think it might be worth mild recap in the point where they ponder how she really apparently was Ane-grown after all.

In any case, it's been a delightful trip! Thank you!

I love your story.

I read it in three days flat, that's how addicted to it I was.

I know you've had the ending written since you were twelve, but pretty please with a cherry on top could you write an alternative ending for everyone who is a fan of Gregory and Felicia being together.

That way everyone has the best of both worlds. I know I should conjure an ending with my imagination, but in my defence I'm not an author. LOL I'm a reader.
evilwitchmonster chapter 57 . 8/15/2011
I’m glad I read this story. It was well-written. You wrote amazing characters that grew on me. I cried most for Lord Henry and Nicholas. The ending was bittersweet. She got what she wanted but she had to leave a man behind. Oh I feel bad for Gregory. Felicia’s love for freedom is more powerful than her love for the prince. But then, I do believe it would be too easy if she stayed in his arms. Gregory must grow as a King and Felicia should experience what she always wanted. Maybe they’ll meet someday and have their happy ending. After all it is an open-ended story. (And I can’t believe you thought this out when you were twelve. Wow.)

I know you said you won’t be writing a sequel but it would be awesome if you do. Or a one shot. If you decide to write maybe you can turn it a bit more political? You’ve already planted Ane, maybe there are others who wanted to rule the Royal City. And Felicia will come back again and save Gregory’s life. Ok, ok, all I’m saying is that if you write a sequel, get them together. They deserve each other.

(Or I’ll just imagine Felicia hanging out with the gypsies while Gregory dies of depression since he doesn’t want a wife unless it’s Felicia. Ha!)

By the way, congratulations on finishing this story. And Thank you for sharing this.
sunny chapter 57 . 8/12/2011
This was a seriously amazing story. the writing, especially considering how young you were when you wrote it, is best-seller worthy. I loved learning about horses and royalty in this. your knowledge showed. i'm very disappointed and franky, shocked more people haven't found and reviewed this story as it should easily have 1000 reviews. I admit, I wouldn't have found it on my own as I tend to look for M rated stories with 1000 reviews as my minimum. This story was recommended and I read it based on that recommendation. I'm really glad I did and I couldn't put this story done til I'd finished. I admit I'm a little depressed Felicia didn't end up with Gregory but I do love how much she valued freedom. I feel at the end she is a little hypocritical as she said yes to Michael when he asked for her hand in marriage but no to Gregory simply because of the notion that she'd feel more trapped as a Queen than as a farmer's wife. I agree with Gregory; she was a little judgemental. Who's to say though? Maybe she'll find out she's pregnant with the future king and will find herself obligated to return to him after some time. Or maybe she'll see enough of the world and will return, hoping Gregory has not moved on. Regardless, this was a beautiful story and I'm making a point of seconding the recommendation and thanking the person who recommended it to me in the first place. I'm off to look up your profile and hopefully find that you've written other marvelous stories!
