Just as a side-note: I heard a different version of Hephaestus' backstory, one where Hera got so angry about Zeus' infidelity that she decided to conceive a child on her own, which is why Hephaestus didn't have good looks. When he was born, she was so embarrassed that she tossed him over the side of Olympus. That's just the version I heard though. |
