I actually don't feel sorry for him at all. If he's as mean and abusive as you make him to be, then let Death take him. I did feel bad for Caroline (jeez, he couldn't even remember her name?) and Marco. Maybe they're better rid of him? He didn't seem like he was leading much of a good life, either way. The last lines were so bittersweet, though.

However, you didn't really stick to the challenege. You got him around to the funeral, and that hardly could have been his dying thought, know what I mean? He'd have long died by then. Also, it would've been nice to know how exactly he died.

Overall, a well written story. Good luck!
