I like Sadie's take on things. She seems very real and very rational in her thoughts. So why did she get so nervous when she heard the water?

I might actually like this story too. :D

Peter seems like a good parent. Ginny seems like a good mom, but we don't know much yet. I'm more interested in her brother, Eric, though. He seems weird like that. Or maybe he's normal and she's weird?

Sucks about her luggage. Did she have that many friends back in her hometown? Because she hasn't mentioned anything about calling anyone of her friends since she arrived. And does Valacry have a past or something? Because those little comments he managed to slip in -about him wanting her to bring her friends over to meet that, and that the windows weren't doors- were kinda weird being directed toward her. But maybe they just describe his character as a parent?

oh, and how old are Hannah and Chase in Penitence. You might have mentioned it, but well, i might have forgotten.

Hmm...this is a good start, and very interesting. There was a part I didn't understand though:

[The sound of rushing water tore me away from what small comfort I had eased into. My heartbeat quickened for a moment, and I bit down on my finger harder, forcing my gaze to the tabletop.

Water crashed, and the others' voices quickly drowned it out.]

Where was the water crashing from? I assume the house is close to the water? Or did someone pour her a drink? Or is there just more to this character that the reader will find out later?

I am curious to see how this story pans out though. Sadie's relationship with her mother, and why its so strained? And is Eric the vice?

You have me intrigued. :P I would love to read more! :)
