Interesting, but I think your essay is colonial and one-sided. Although, if it's a position paper, since you should probably one address one side, good job! My biggest problem is that you accepted (without question) that America is a moral place, if you are talking about America. Actually, this works for any of the major English-speaking countries. You blissfully ignore the scads of atrocities the American government (and big business) has committed against its own people in a highly immoral way, at least according to standard modern definitions of morality. Looking critically at those, can we call America a moral place? Can we still call our leaders moral figures?
