![]() ![]() ![]() Oh Oliver, nagging friends are lots of fun!... well... at least the ones I've made over the internet... |
![]() ![]() ![]() First off you have Anonymous Reviews Disabled. Thought I should tell you just in case. Second, I don't think its going slow at all, I rather like this pace and I'm also very curious to find out what's going on between Tyler and Greg. I loved this chapter. Especially the beach scene. lol, checking each other out, ne? Great chapter! ~Nya! _ |
![]() ![]() ![]() Saa... what can I say about schools in America? Well... okay, preschool can be a year or two depending when you sign them up but I don't think you're asking about that, right? Well, schools in different states are different but I'll give you the most popular and what I think you're asking. First: Elementary schools normally go from kindergarten to 5th grade so ages 5-11 depending on the month you are born in. (5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11) Middle schools go from grades 6th to 8th so ages 11-14 depending on the months. (11-12, 12-13, 13-14) High Schools (which is the main one you are asking for) go from grades 9th to 12th from ages 14-18 depending on the ages. (14-15, 15-16, 16-17, 17-18) Now, starting from middle school until your senior year of high school of course, you switch classes and rooms each hour, you usually have about a 5 min break between classes, maybe 10 depending on how large the campus is. In high school, again depending on how large the school is and the number of students, they either all go to lunch at the same time, or break up the lunch hours by grades or classes. Usually the first lunch is just after 3rd period. Most schools have either 7 or 8 classes. The school year is usually from September 1st (or the first monday) to about June... 4th or so. But some schools go from about August 10th to about May 19th such as lots of central USA schools, especially where I live (which is Oklahoma but I'm sure that's not where your characters reside). The 1st monday is Labor Day so you get out from... Sat-Mon and go back to school Tuesday, I think. October 31st, Halloween, no one get's out. Some may have parade's or carnivals held at the school where kid's are allowed to wear their costumes to school (if they are appropriate), but a lot of the time you aren't allowed to wear them at school. Only some can. Nov 11th is Veteran's day but most school's usually only to something at school and not get out that day. We have about a week break for Thanksgiving which is the 3rd Thursday of November always. So it's about six or seven days including the weekend, so usally only a five or four day break. And then of course you have a 2 week break in December from about December... 20th or 22nd to about January 3rd or 5th depending on where you live. And then on the 3rd monday in January you usually get out of school in some places (I think). It's Martin Luther King Jr Day. Of course Feb 14th Valentine's Day but still in school. I'm not sure whether or not we still get our for President's day on the 3rd monday in febuary. But I don't think so. (I'm now homeschooled for the last half-a-year). The last monday in May is Memorial Day so if you're not out I think you get that day off and go back to school Tuesday (school days Monday-Friday). Um... I'm not sure what else to say. If you need anything cleared up, please message me and ask, I'll do my best to answer! And just between you and me and whoever else happens to read this, honestly, the USA isn't as great as people say it is. -sigh- As soon as I have enough money (which will probably be never) I'm moving myself to Japan. -nods seriously- Japan; they're awesome. I'll shut up now. Great chapter! ~Nya! _ |
![]() ![]() ![]() sounds like a good story |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh yes, definitely continue posting it. One of the few fics I've found that have caught my interest. I love Oliver and Tyler and the twins are just so funny! Cunning little brats they are! lol, but I love them! ~Nya! _ |
![]() ![]() ![]() hiya! don't worry, of course you don't sound pushy. i have my interview tomorrow so i was just glad of something to read and distract me! the storyline is great- i love tyler and the twins too, they seem like so much fun. oliver is also really, really cute! i think i have a bit of a crush on him already. in addition, have you ever read Stupid Post-it Notes, by Dirty-Angel-Toes? it's a similar sort of idea to this and it's my favourite slash story ever, so if you haven't read it yet you should check it out! all that being said, i really liked this. i'm adding it to alert so i can read more as soon as you're ready to post it :D |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love it already. Ollie is a bit of a jerk but I hope he'll get better once he gets used to the new environment. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ooh, interesting. I'm not sure if I've read a story with too much of a similar plot, so that's should be a nice change! I look forward to the next chapter! ~Nya! _ |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like the plot, but I don't like the mother and the twins. The mother and the kids call him "Ollie" without even asking if it's okay. I know it's not really the kids fault, but it's just really rude in my opinion. I know you probably didn't write it to be like that, but my name is Faith and people try to call me Fae. It bugs me so bad. I guess that's why I feel for Oliver. Meagan doesn't seem too bad, and Tyler is okay. I really think that Oliver should have a few breakdowns. Just moving schools took an emotional toll on me. When I couldn't find a classroom, I got so pissed off and sad that I ran to the bathroom and sobbed half the period. When I couldn't open my locker, I did the same. I would cry like, weekly for a few months, and even after a year. I lost my friends, I lost my teachers, I lost some freedom with dress code, I lost everything that I was use to. But again, the plot so far is pretty genius. Very unique. :) |
