Well put together and extremely well written both in terms of grammar and style. I always enjoy a first chapter that holds out the promise of a deep, complex world, and in this case the connections to the Roman empire are clear without being overstated. Subtlety is a virtue which you definitely have so far. I look forward to reading future chapters!
