Having recently watched Going the Distance, the crux of this story reminded me of the movie. The Path of Least Resistance showed the very real life events that can occur when two individuals want to pursue a romantic relationship, but distance confers a huge obstacle. This story started off a bit slow for me, with the emails back and forth. I felt like I was seeing random glimpses into who these people were without enough context. I think if you had more interaction of the two main characters in their daily lives (instead of the little blurbs at the end of the chapters) would have brought a better balance of understanding to the characters. Once they started talking more comfortably and regularly, it was easier for me to connect to their friendship. I'm not sure if it was your intention, but it was easier for me to see how David fell in love with Sophie than for the vice versa. Perhaps it is her driven character that made her POV less transparent with regards to her feelings towards David, but I felt for a long time she put him in the friend zone and then suddenly she was really interested. Perhaps more time in her POV when they are conversing together would help? Or more of her thoughts in the narration.
I like how well thought out their personalities were. There was no instance where I felt they did something out of character. You presented David and Sophie in such a way that I could easily relate to their emotions- I felt they were very real people going through very real life experiences and were reacting in a true fashion (not hiding or covering up their feelings).
Sorry for the ramblings, but I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to read more from you!

I absolutely loved this story! It would have been fun to see the reactions of their families to their relationship since they all knew each other from way back. But I really enjoyed reading it!

So I usually don't review on here, but I wanted to let you know just how much I enjoyed this story. It definitely deserved more reviews than it got. A friend recommended this story to me, and I couldn't sleep this morning at 4 am, so I started reading this and didn't go back to sleep till after 7:30 this morning when I had finished it. Then when I woke up a few hours later, I re-read some of my favorite parts again haha. So yes, suffice it to say, I enjoyed this story very much. I loved that they were childhood friends and just randomly reconnected the way they did. I love that it wouldn't have worked if he hadn't moved to London. I thought it was great that both of the characters grew at the end. He finally grew out of his hesitancy and low self-esteem and finally admitted his feelings and chased after her. And she finally grew out of her need for control and organization and went after him. It was all really cute, and while I was upset with Sophie towards the end for how she was treating David, I really loved that she redeemed herself and chased after him. And the way she did it was adorable...calling him and showing up at his doorstep...admitting she'd finally met a decent guy that would fit her lifestyle, but the guy wasn't the one for her. Very adorable! Awesome job once again!

Ok I'm upset with no epilogue but that is only because I wanted more of Sophie and David. I think this book so far is my favorite of yours. It flowed so easily. I just finished reading Route 66 so I'll head on over there to review :) I usually review right after finishing but I finished this on my phone and its not easy to review with my phone but I didn't not want to review! I love this story and I hope that one day very very soon you get published.

I know I haven't reviewed in awhile, but I just wanted to let you know I'm stilla readin. I enjoyed this story prolly as much as you seemed not to lol. I enjoyed it enough to finish it in one sitting, and believe me that is saying alot. Good job as always. Now imma start another one, thanks for alleviating my severe work boredom.

Thanks so much for that awesome story! It was really cute~ ;D

So tell me, how is it that even when you "phone it in" as you put it you still manage to come out with a chapter as good as this. I loved it. It had all the elements that I wanted for Sophie and David (including Sophie eating humble pie-crow concoction).
Just a random bit that I really liked- Brandon! Methinks he deserves his own story at some point(hinthinthint). I always find it sweet when a complete stranger becomes a "single-serving friend" and gives you advice that sticks. It recently happened to me at a time when I really need it so I can relate. Sometimes you just need to hear things told to you bluntly in order for it to sink in. So now I'm eagerly awaiting the next story that pours out of your wonderful mind. It will come soon yess?
(PS- Hope all is well with you and the little one!).

As per always, your story is fantastic :) I love that your chapters are moderately long, your paragraph properly spaced, your sentences grammatically correct, and more importantly, you always maintain the integrity of your characters. It is really pleasant to read your works.
By the way, Sophie kinda reminds me of me. We probably have the same closet, our planners are probably similarly filled, and yes, I do have the 5-year plan too. However, I draw the lines at Stick-it tabs.
Look forward to reading your other works :)

Dancing with happiness that they're together, I'm going to miss Sophie and her plans! Loved this story :)...Now off to catch up on your new one!
| Midnight113 chapter 11 . 12/9/2010
YAY! Happy endings are my favorite. I'm so happy for them and especially for Sophie to finally realize what she wants and to put her work and responsibilities aside so she can have a love life. Good for her. I think what I liked the most was how you had her interact with this seemingly perfect guy in order for her to fully comprehend what she was doing. It was perfect. Loved her showing up at his door and his reaction was just as I had hoped. Yet another masterpiece from you, I always look forward to your work and I'm excited you're planning more for us. Incredible, lovely story, keep on writing!
