jaskolka chapter 7 . 1/12/2012 This story stands for everything that I have been looking for in a MM romance on fictionpress. You could basically say that it is my wet dream come true in terms of MM fiction. I couldn't believe my luck when I read the summary and started reading only to discover that this is IT. Then, I expected/feared the story to become annoyingly overdramatic or oversnarky or simply cheesy as it often happens (noooo!). Oh, people of little faith... Each chapter is better! I love the idea of choosing the usual nasty guy as the protagonist. Note that I wrote nasty and not evil, wicked etc., since Justin stands for any of those little, annoying, jelous, talentless and indolently scheming guys whose only role in your average story is to try, and of course in the end miserably fail, in tripping and destroying the good hero. Those characters are usually presented in a terribly superficial and one dimensional way while we often forget that it is not always easy to continously suffer defeat or be subjected to the pressure of keeping up with others so as not to be branded as the useless, worthless one. As I read about Justin's life and his circumstances my heart was breaking. All the pain, soul wrenching loneliness, and self hate that he experienced made him miserable. In the end Justin believed himself worhtless to the point where he refused to believe that the interest Tony has shown in him was genuine and not driven by greed and ambition. Tony became the hateful embodiment of a perfect friend, perfect employee, perfect son that he himself could have never been. Toroda was a living proof of Justin's inadequacy and inferiority. Consequently, the decision to bring Tony down was not about winning but rather about pulling down and destroying what Tony stood for. I am not claiming that Justin was right. He was not. Many times I winced at his cruel behaviour, cruel words and felt so very sorry for Toroda who was nothing but sweet and understanding (I'm referring to the past events, before The Great Betrayal - TGB). That's what makes this story so good for me - neither of the main characters is perfect and they both have their heavy crosses to carry. Toby who can't live down TGB and is being unreasonably cruel in taking his revenge and keeps on hitting somebody who is already down (and those are some mean punches too) and Justin who can't free himself from the specter of his genius but condescending and cruel father. Ohh, the thin line between love and hate, how I love thou. Leaving aside Justin and Toby, I found myself falling for Chris - I adore him for giving Plank a chance, not to mention that I look forward to his ongoing rivarly with Toby... Finally, I am happy to observe Justin changing and maturing. I like him more with each chapter and now that he decided to take a new turn in his life appreciate his sense of humour. All in all I am officially ADDICTED to this story. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for writing and posting it on fictionpress. You make my days and night brighter figuratively and literally (hehe, with all the light from my laptop's screen and what not). |
Jaded Devil chapter 7 . 1/10/2012 Wow, this story is so good! I love your writing style and how your main character is such an awful person (I'm sorry, Justin)! It's obvious that Tony is so possessive of him... the triangle between Tony, Justin and Chris will be interesting. Somehow I find myself leaning towards a Chris and Justin ending. I'm anxiously anticipating the next chapter! |
pygmy owl chapter 7 . 1/8/2012 Great story! I hope that Chris is just trying to help Justin by making Tony jealous. |
ringo01 chapter 7 . 1/3/2012 Hn... I don't usually like anything with love triangles in it, but your stories makes such category interesting and not painful to read. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of your stories~! ;D |
The Original Psycho chapter 7 . 1/2/2012 Another amazing story! Wow, I think you're one of my favourite authors on fictionpress-can't wait until the next chapter! :) |
runaway sheet chapter 7 . 12/31/2011 Woah, my Justin? That Chris is bold. Sweet dude though, sticking a poster of himself in Justin's seems like something he would do too. :) |
izit chapter 7 . 12/30/2011 Yes! I love how my favorite stories all seem to get updates for christmas. Although Justin humiliating himself was predictably pathetic, between that and actually trying to serve his client, nice to see him trying to slither towards respectability. Babysteps! You can tell Tony still loves the loser in spite of himself. Chris is so impish, hard to tell if he's mostly hitting on Justin to irritate Tony, to push Tony and Justin together, or just for the hell of it. This chapter was pretty funny. Loling all over the place at the image of Justin's "office" consisting of basically a closet with a chair in the middle. And: "Justin was like the guy who ran out of breath halfway up Mt. Everest and was left behind by the rest of the hiking party to die. Everyone in Toroda People would definitely leave him to die. Justin sank into the chair, picturing his frozen, lifeless body on the side of the world's tallest mountain." Heh. |
yellow1105 chapter 7 . 12/29/2011 very nice. I am just wondering if Chris is really interested in Justin or if just wants to get a rise of Tony... I am looking forward to the next update. |
amoxi chapter 7 . 12/29/2011 oh man, it's just soo friggin obvious whats happening with Tony here. He was obsessed with Justin since their college days. All this protectiveness. Like an open book. I'm actually already drooling while thinking about the jealousy thats sure to ensue, what with Chris courting Justin and all that. I'm still not sure I trust Chris's intentions, but let me rephrase, I think he's still a fickle kid which fell in love with a new shiny toy. Tony's obsession lasted for years now so I'm definitely rooting for him haha. Also like I've mentioned before, I dig the menacing, possessive, mean type *_*... So happy you updated! Hoping for more soon and I definitely have to agree with other commenters...you deserve more reviews! |

plumblossom chapter 7 . 12/26/2011 This is not what I expected! Why did Tony decide that Justin needed furniture after all? And Chris is just a bag of surprises. I've been thinking about this story for a while, I'm really excited that you updated. |
QuickSilverSand chapter 7 . 12/26/2011 I'm liking Chris way more for Justin than Tony...Tony is too mean |
allsold chapter 7 . 12/26/2011 Tony is obsessed. There's something fundamentally wrong with Justin (especially when drunk). And Chris is an unusual, yet highly amusing, tool/douche/dude...Your fic is frickin adorable \./ |
