The opening doesn't really transition well or seem to fit in with the rest, I don't know how better to describe it but I think that needs work. I also find it hard to believe any guy would continue to ask a girl out who continues to reject them unless there are deeper psychological issues, esp. in college when there are so many girls to choose from. If I accept your premise though and ignore the disjointed feel of the opening back-story the core of the story is nicely written. Good luck with your creative writing class.

I really like the fact that this story was so honest and direct, not dragging on about the characters' emotions and thoughts. This is one of the most realistic and cliche-free oneshots I've read here in FP in a long time, and I applaud your wonderful writing.
