Some serious, frightening power Eskil has and listlessly shared with Lottie. It goes to show, perhaps, how much she trusts Eskil with his endearing personality. Very deep play of power in this chapter—we now understand, on the surface of things, where Eskil has come from and how he lived before. (I was briefly confused as one sentence from his past blurred to another structure of the future, but I jumped on track quick enough.) And as he dreamt about his past, we understand how tortured and curdled he is as a djinni. Placing a façade to survive despite his attempts towards freedom?

I wonder if anyone has ever wished him free? Then again, I’m quoting Aladdin…

Lottie is good for him, I think. It’s molding him into an enchanting person and maybe she’ll begin to realize that her life, too, has changed something for the better.

Eskil's such a pip! You introduce him as both charming and addictive. I have such a keen sense of affection for the half-hearted reluctance Lottie tries to show Eskil, but smitten (and I do believe it's so), he wins her over with his endearing head tilts and prodding, pondering nature. Realistic characters with enough mush of romance to make it beautiful work- both dialogue and detail.

Very witty and beautifully sculpted dialogue/scenes. I'm in love with Eskil's passion and inevitable display of affection, real or not, towards Lottie. Or his personality, I can't decide. Real cute! Can't wait to read more-you never can find a decent Djinn story beside the basic Aladdin and Ali Baba.
