Reviews for Jasey Rae
Taint.Revile.Elude chapter 1 . 12/12/2012
Definitely, the characters and the story line suited your idea (as you explained it) and the narrative of the song perfectly, in my opinion. I have always loved this song, but this one-shot made me love it that much more. Congrats on pitch-perfect characters, both of whom I could understand, and the realistic portrayal of a one-off. I never want to be either of these people, lol, which may or not have been your purpose, but I know that's part of what I took away from it. They showed me the possible consequence of a choice I'm glad to have never made.

sorry just couldn't get into it. I Really love the song tho.
RVman chapter 1 . 1/12/2012
What makes this interesting is how the whole thing worked out. It seems like the moral of the story is that if you do something bad to someone, karma finds you and you pay for it even if no one else does. Alex did something bad, and without anyone really getting revenge on him, his own guilt made him suffer a lot more than Jasey did, and what as perhaps a worse punishment than having to face her and hear her yell at him for what he did, is the knowledge that he was tormented by it and she was not. It is a well written story that I'll probably think about every time I listen to that song from now on.

Love this!
Country Princess chapter 1 . 9/17/2011
I absolutely loved this! I realize you wrote this about a year ago, but you should think about continuing it! And yes, you go tyour point across. Your writing was very raw and honest. Once again, I absolutely loved this!
Kellet chapter 1 . 8/30/2011
I really liked the tone of this piece. I heard the song and honestly, not my cup of tea, but this piece makes it worth it to me. It makes so much sense, it's so realistic. I'd actually really like a full length story from this because it makes so much sense. I mean the only reason it bothers Alex so much is because it matters. He regrets what he did. Maybe he wanted something more, maybe he didn't. The only thing I'm sure of is that Alex is very human and for a piece so short, the characterization is spot-on. Great work.

VERY well written, nice plot, interesting characters, PERFECT connotations! I loved this story so much, you have no idea. Your writing definitely displayed what you were trying to get across and I loved it. I love the concept I love the writing, I love your style of story telling.

I'll listen to the song to see if it matches the mood of your story. Good job anyways :)

Wow this was really good. I've listened to this song for years but I never stopped to really think about what the lyrics were saying. But this story fleshed out a story behind the song and made me look at the lyrics more closely. So thanks for giving me a new appreciation for the song. ]
Julietish chapter 1 . 6/15/2011
Hi, I'm Juliet from A Drop of Juliet. Your story was inducted into ADoR. Congratulations. :] Here's your raving review:

Based on the song Jasey Rae by All Time Low, this one-shot is a response to SKoW's So Many Songs, But I'm Feeling So Lonely challenge. It truly captures the intensity of the emotions and tone of the song. The characters are named after the band members. Well-written with minimal grammatical and spelling errors, this song-based one-shot makes a bittersweet story.

Not A Monkey chapter 1 . 5/18/2011
I loved reading this for two reasons

One it was brilliantly written, with lovely use of grammar and syntax

And the other that I now love this song...I didn't know it before hand and so as per the recommandation by you, I listened to it whilst reading. I'd never known it before and now I cannot stop knowing it...because it does fit in quite well.

I love the fact that this is no happy ending, that he acted in a way that was a part of his nature and she in hers. I also love the fact that even though they both did what they do, only he is the one who is really letting it affect him.

Bittersweet and beautiful, thank you for putting this out there!
cu-kid chapter 1 . 3/4/2011
I really loved this! I loved that the story was entirely from Alex's POV, I loved all of his thoughts and moments of uncertainty and his end determination to talk to Jasey to, at the very least, rid himself of guilt-I thought this was very human of him, in a kind of jerky way, that he would apologize to make himself feel better about the situation. By the time we get to Jasey, I'm glad she isn't a complete mess. I like how she handled everything (and, I have to admit, I liked how it pissed Alex off), it makes her a strong character, in my mind, even though we really see very little of her. I also LOVE that they didn't fall in love-I mean, really, how many times do one-night stands end up in true love? Defeats the whole purpose of them!

Very well done!
Mr. Ree chapter 1 . 2/21/2011
When I saw the name of this, I just HAD to read it, because All Time Low is one of the best things ever and Jasey Rae is one of my faves (Acoustic also). Saying that, I think you did the song justice :)
Alora The Sleepy chapter 1 . 2/12/2011
I like this a lot. It's well written and I think you captured the tone of the song really well. And, of course, you used the lyrics wonderfully. Though, it's not hard to go wrong with the amazing lines I was hoping and am glad you used. Your second last line especially. It gets me every time I listen to the song, and it got me here too.

I can't decide whether I like that you used the band members names or not, though. On the one hand, it doesn't really make a difference to me because they're characters here who are, for the most part, entirely separate from their real life personae, so it doesn't really matter whether the main character's name is Alex or Jason or Paul. But then there's the silly fangirl side of me that DOES relate the characters to the band, because, hell they have the same names, and I get uncomfortable because fangirl me doesn't want Alex to be such an asshole, or for Rian to read like more of a roommate than a friend to Alex. You know? And to someone who's not a fan reading this, it isn't going to make a difference, but to the majority of readers, who'll click BECAUSE they're fans, it might. And, yeah, I understand that you want to relate the character to real Alex, at least in terms of his voice in the song, but even songs and poetry we intend to write from our own points of view come out as something from the voice of a character who is almost identical to us, but not quite. That's how I see it, anyway. So, I dunno.

My other minor issue, and I realise without this the story might not work as smoothly, so I don't know what to suggest instead, but. I have a small problem believing Alex s a character. Because you have me believing he's such an asshole, but then he's so haunted by this thing with Jasey. And maybe he's just... a little TOO angsty about it? A little TOO haunted? Because after that scene in the basement by himself, I'm like, "He's less of an asshole and more just a dude who made a mistake." An then there's the (wonderful P) scene at the end with Jasey, and I'm like, "No, OK, he IS an asshole." But it's not like we just saw a different side of him. It's like two completely different characters. And therefore he becomes less believable.

But I dunno, maybe I'm just bullshitting here. P The point was, I like it, and for the most part, really, really well done. ) Like I said, you captured the tone of the song really well, and that alone means you deserve mass respect. And you have mine, so. )

Whatt? They didn't end up together?

Brilliant use of the lyrics, by the way.
Datarin chapter 1 . 11/5/2010
It's a good twist on the oft-beaten to death genre, and I like the solid writing quality.
