Very touching... Right now at school we're learning about the participation of Australia in WWI and I've seen many quotes about the guilt of people that did not go to the war... very powerful... it got me thinking, I'm generally more interested in wars that happened BEFORE the inventions of guns and other machinery, with swords, and other weapons where the soldiers would have to face the enemy and victims face to face instead of just pressing a button and a bomb blows up thousands... well I was wondering, would the people who weren't chosen for those wars, like the knights and so forth, have felt the same sort of thing? we always hear the whole 'fight for king and country' so would it have been the same for them? or was the situation too different?

I think I'll go ponder that for a few hours... hehehe

Anyway, great story, I've read about 5 of your short ones so far and all of them are GREAT!

Beautiful. I especially like the ending line, "but the one not sent lives...with guilt". Really powerful story. Great job!

That was sad. I liked it. but you don't always live just because you wern't sent to war what about pearl harbor or the peolpe living in Japan during the bombing. still it was very touching I love it, I think that it is insightful and couldn't be more true.
