One thing I noticed though: Fred reads Seth's name-tag but then says his back is facing them. And since name-tags are usually on the front of shirts, I'm not sure how that would have worked out. :)

First, I like your narrator from the first part. Not dating a drug dealer looks very sane to me!

In the second part I laughed at the reference to Shakira. Way to go with unexpected metaphors!

The Star Trek joke / Battlestar Galactica reference was fun too. And while I had spotted the end coming, you bring it out in a fun fashion that doesn't make it so cliche. Either that or I'm a sucker for optimistic romance. Nice read, anyway.
