I love this. I was having a bad day and read it and it not only entertained me, but it also spoke to me. I am also inspired to pick up where my stories left off.

Oh, god, he cannot be serious with that bull. An actual best friend would not stop her from living her life, with or without him. She doesn't need saving, she needs a backbone, to do what SHE wants, whatever that may be. It's... infuriating when someone thinks they're saving someone else from something. I mean, seriously?

Frizz buster or some other such nonsense, it's what she needs to keep that hair under control.

See, Caleb can be sweet WHILE pointing out Gabriel's manipulation of Lily's feelings.

Also, why is Lily so insecure? Throughout this entire story, there has NEVER been a reason for it, so I don't get it.

Lily's reactions to Gabriel's every action are proof positive that she has nothing without him, which is sad. She really needs to live for herself a little, see how good it feels.

I have no idea how Gabe beat Caleb. My only theory is that people love cliches so much that they are blind to emotional abuse. Gabe has not been a good dude this entire story and nothing about him, not even his looks to me, is attractive, but especially his personality!

Caleb, obviously; he's sweet and considerate and is getting to know her for who she is rather than who she's always been. Sometimes our friends think they know us better than we know ourselves in such a way that it becomes harmful to our own growth. Gabe is one of those people. Everything that comes out of Gabe's mouth is hypocritical or patronizing, either she CANNOT do something he CAN do or she's being UNTRUE to herself by trying something NEW with SOMEONE new. Gabriel is like a parent, and she already has two of those, so I need him to take several seats.

I actually hate jealous Gabe, because it shows how much of a hypocrite he can be. He's dating Sydney, constantly ditching his friends for her, and talking shit about her behind her back but Lily actually likes a cool guy and he's got a problem with it. If his jealousy was funny, like the characters in Love and Basketball or Brown Sugar, than I could get behind it, I could root for Gabe and Lily but, right now, he's just being s dick and I want him to be eaten by a shark. It's annoying. I wish both of them would be supportive best friends despite their feelings for one another, it would make this less cliche.

Lily likes Gabe, why doesn't she take the initiative? This isn't a problem, you can make it work, maybe justify it via her personality somehow but if she's waiting on him to make the first move simply because "that's what girls do" then that won't help the story's individuality any.

The same with setting Sydney up as the "evil other woman." If there is nothing likable about her and Gabe is still with her, shouldn't that say more about him than it says about her? People seek out what they see in themselves and if Gabe is sticking with Sydney, there must be some similarity that makes her human to him, instead of a cliche that never worked.

I liked their tradition and their friends, though I'd like to learn more about them. As well as Lily's family, we skipped right over them in the beginning. :)

This is probably the best story I've ever read on Fictionpress. Seriously.

Gabe is a jerk. Let the girl grow. She hasn't abandoned her friends or family. It is natural to be curious about the world and want to have other experiences. He needs to get a grip.

I don't like Gabe. He's a disrespectful jerk.
