I do like the Enlightenment era setting. A Scottish highlander is a new sort of character for you, and they are damn cool. I did enjoy the setting and multitude of forces at work: Dragons, spectral hunters, and bandits. While I don't like the repetitive 'kid and protector' trope, I guess it's hardwired into you as much as mine are for me.
