Sophie chapter 18 . 9/21/2013
Oh my god, this book was so great. I read it over the course of a week or so and I just finished it. So so so well written. I wonder what's going to happen with Noel and Jordan hm and I wonder if Noel might actually see Vance again sometime in the future... Maybe you should write a sequel. Again, this book was so incredible and i don't think I've ever read something like it. It felt real, like the charachters were real people. maybe that's why I'm feeling so torn about it. I'm sad that Vance and Noel are going separate ways, but I'm relieved that they ended on a good note. You should really think about getting this published, I'm dead serious. This story deserves an applause. Very well done.

This hurt to read. But, it's really great. A perfect ending really.
vipera.422 chapter 18 . 2/10/2013
It’s very difficult for me to review this story because I honestly don’t know how to feel about it. On the one hand, I wanted Noel and Vance to stay together and live happily ever after, but on the other hand, I realized their relationship – if you can call it that – was extremely unhealthy and didn’t seem to help Noel heal from his past traumas.
Even though parts of the story were from Vance’s point of view, he still managed to remain a big mystery to the reader. We never found out what exactly happened between him and Nick and I’m still not sure how he felt about Noel. At first he appeared to care only about himself and I found his behaviour rather selfish but later I warmed up to him. In any case, I was stunned when he admitted he loved Noel. After all, he’d seemed pretty sure he didn’t love the teenager during all the times when we got to see inside his head.
I particularly enjoyed the first few chapters because I found Noel’s seduction of his teacher very amusing. I was also still hopeful at the time that their story would have a happy ending. Later Noel became an emotional wreck who started crying at the drop of a hat and I much preferred his confident and seductive side. I was also completely befuddled by his behaviour at the end of the story. I’d expected him to throw a tantrum or something when Vance told him he was leaving – possibly for good – and they were done.
All in all, I’m still confused about parts of the story but I really enjoyed it and hope you decide to write a sequel. At the end it seemed that Noel might get together with Jordan but I don’t believe their relationship could ever become something serious. I hope that Vance comes back once Noel has grown up a bit and they pick up where they left off. Only this time I pray there will be a happy ending for this unconventional couple.

Aaah! That was a good ending.

I'm glad you didn't sentimentalize things, since this is such an unsentimental story by nature. It felt right - the sense of resolution that wasn't just a part of the story, but the feelings of the characters themselves. They felt like things were resolved too, along with us readers.

In a strange way this is a story of nurturing love - of a kind of fatherly love. I mean, according to Freud's idea of the family romance (very helpful and still very current), we grow up with incestuous feelings for both our parents. So this isn't just a story about a lover being a father, it's also a story about a father being a lover. It's pretty perceptive that way.

Yes, overall I thought the perceptivity of your psychological portraits was the best part. The characters were memorably and well drawn. Overall, the story just had this sense of gravity to it, like what happened really mattered, that was kind of missing from past stories.

I can't wait to read what comes next. I think a sequel could be really good... like, Jordan and Noel are together and maybe 18 or 19 and Vance comes back and drama happens? Only consider it if it evokes something for you. Maybe it's best left up to the reader's imagination.

First of all, congratulations on finishing your story. It's been an immense pleasure reading it. It's bloody amazing!
Having said that, I do think that the ending was way too rushed and didn't really live up to the extremely high quality of the rest of the story. Yes, I am a bit disappointed. But it is your story, you're the boss and you decide how and when to finish it and I respect that.
I suspect that maybe you got a bit fed up with writing it, after all, you've been working on it since April 2011. If that is the case, I really appreciate that you took the time anyway to finish the story. An awful lot of authors on FP abandon their unfinished stories which is terribly frustrating for the readers. I hope that one day you'll revisit Unavoidable Boundaries and add some more chapters to it. I think the story deserves it. The ending was a bit of an anti-climax, to be honest.
I've been very emotionally invested in this story and I've caught myself thinking about it quite frequently and I've eagerly awaited each new update. It's made me feel all kinds of conflicting emotions and think about a lot of things. And I've really enjoyed your style of writing. It's sort of minimalistic in the sense that you don't write more words than are strictly necessary. No purple prose there and thank god for that.

Thank you so much for this story.

Not to be rude but...this is kinda shitty. The ending is so abrupt and weird. Kinda feel like I wasted my time reading this story.

Thank you so much for updating. I really enjoy reading this story. I can't wait for the next update. I will be so disappointed if this story isn't eventually completed. I have had my heart broken by authors before when I was so involved emotionally & mentally on their story. I love this story. It's quite unique on here. Thank you again so so much for updating :))

I really do adore this story so much. So well-written, so well-edited and such an interesting plot.
Whereas Noel's actions are easy to understand, Vance remains a bit of a mystery to me - and that is a good thing because it makes the story more interesting. He is a bit of a control freak who is easily manipulated, which has to be rather frustrating for him - at the same time as it comes in handy as an excuse for his actions: it's the kid who started it, not him. Hence he is almost innocent, right?
I re-read the whole story and I'm back to thinking that Vance is a bit of a dodgy geezer: he was surprisingly easy to seduce. There are rumours in the school about child porn on his computer and the students find him a bit creepy.
I feel there is a lot we don't know about Vance. He doesn't seem like a downright sexual predator, but seriously, there is something wrong with him: He's having sex with a 15/16 year-old school boy who looks like a small child, despite realising intellectually that it's wrong, illegal, risky for himself, and potentially harmful to Noel.
But damn, I also like Vance and he could possibly have a good influence on Noel, but it's hard to tell because I don't know Vance well enough. I feel that he is hiding part of his true self and part of his past from us: his introspections seem somewhat unreliable and lacking. And this makes the story so interesting to read.
JHeartbreak chapter 17 . 1/12/2013
So, the usual: good chapter, wish the wait was less.

Yeah, I pretty much don't know what to say. Stylistically you keep out of the way, so all I pay attention to is the plot, which is very involving. And it's hard to criticize a plot because it just is what it is.

I don't know where things are headed, but it certainly feels more intense now. Things can't keep going on the way they used to, but if that means they will stop or go further, I can't say. Vance seems to be more committed to Noel than ever, but he's under even more extreme pressure to stop.

I want this to end well... which for me, means that Vance and Noel's relationship goes it's course. I want them to split up (if they do split up) because it's emotionally necessary, not because they'll go to jail if they don't.

That's it. Keep writing.
